Owlet sock oxygen levels?

We’ve always used an owlet sock since birth as my little girl had laryngomalacia when born so we was always on edge (now gone) her oxygen levels were alway between 98-100%. I’ve noticed this week after checking everyday her oxygen levels are now around 94% on average through the night, sometimes going down to 93%. I check on her constantly and she always seems fine, she’s 7 months old now and when she moves or wakes up her oxygen levels raise back up again. Do you think this is anything to be concerned about although it says the healthy range is from 90% but it’s never been this low

It’s tricky, I’ve had mixed messages for almost every medical professional I ive discussed this with. I’ve got an owlet for both my now 4 year and my 6 month old because I was traumatised by my experience with 4 year old who was prem, got RSV and stopped breathing. She has breathing difficulties every time she catches a virus and overnight her sats can drop to below 90 but everytime I call 111 at that level then they call an ambulance for us. Generally if she is hovering at 92/93 then I don’t take her into hospital anymore but give her blue inhalers to keep her up, and if we’re admitted to hospital then they don’t keep you in overnight if she can hold her sats up above 90 without oxygen. But she’s 4. The paramedics that came out to us the other night when she dropped to 88 told us that 92/93 is tolerable for her but younger babies really it needs to be 94/95.

Sorry for long message reached character limit.

If this is a recent change to your little girl, I’d probably investigate, see GP and get referred to respiratory specialist perhaps, especially if she’s well, if she’s harbouring a cold this could be why and perhaps is not so worrying and something she needs to work through. I’ve also been told that the tolerance for sats levels has decreased in recent years and they now believe actually that lower scores are fine as some people live like that permanently. If you’re worried, I would follow it up with a GP. Not sure that is at all helpful but that’s what I’ve learnt through my regular admittance to hospitals 4 times a year with my daughter

One final note (sorry), my little boy who’s 6 months old currently has a cold and he’s hovering at 94/95 at the moment whilst sleeping. This is lower than his normal when well and I feel a little discomfort but am keeping an eye and propping him up to try to clear airways and waiting for it to pass x

Id say check the sensors on it are clean and dry, definitely only worry if its under 90 like you've said .Is she waking less in the night aswell as it could just be that shes in a nice deep sleep. But definitely ask your gp for help if you're stressed. My babes monitor went lower than normal for a while like 80s when asleep and turned out she had bronchiolitis so trust your gut x

I wouldn’t recommend using the owlet as 3 rd time mum and nurse it’s not recommended by health professional, The Smart Sock is designed for "peace of mind" and tracking, not as a medical device to diagnose or treat health conditions These devices are known for frequent false alarms (low oxygen/heart rate warnings when the baby is fine), which can cause unnecessary parental anxiety.

thank you! We used it everyday since birth then stopped using it for about 3-4 weeks. Started using it again when she got a cold and it’s been averaging 94% for about a month now. She seems fine in herself but it used to be around 98-99% I’ll keep an eye on it thank you! X

she doesn’t wake at all, she sleeps 12 hours every night which could be why, as soon as she starts to move or wake they go higher again, I’m watching her live stats on the owlet app right now ( as she sleeps next to me haha) and it’s currently sitting at 95% xx

yeah this is my second baby never used one on my first but was more anxious because of her breathing from the laryngomalacia when she was born, I definitely can see why they could cause more stress than not x

aww that must have been terrifying so glad she’s okay! I agree I think it is amazing what it does I’m just so over paranoid that I look into every little thing… but you can never be too careful with our babies ! I never used one on my son who’s 2 but have done this time around and it’s given me so much peace of mind especially as she has slept 12 hours since about a month old! X

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?
