For context this is baby No.2 and I had a traumatic 1st birth
With my last baby I had an awful experience
I had to be induced and had an allergic reaction to the pessary which I was ignored for hourrrrss when I tried telling them there was something wrong - finally when I kicked off they checked me and saw how bad it was and removed it luckily at this point I had dilated enough to have my waters broken (this wasn’t done until 15 hours later and my contractions had now stopped) I had to then be put on the hormone drip and in my opinion they increased this too fast in spite of me constantly asking to slow down as I was struggling to breathe
I then had remifentenal after 4 hours to help ease some in the pain which was great - until it ran out because the midwife wasn’t paying attention- there was no one available to refill it and in the 20 mins it took them to start me and the baby had both crashed I was 9.5 cm and baby retracted back inside and got very tangled in the cord (I had an extra long cord)
I ended up having an emergency c section under general anaesthetic I haemorrhaged and lost a lot of blood and baby was born not breathing.
We are both fine now and little one is nearly two
I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been told due to babies slow growth I have to have a c section
I don’t want general again and I have a massive needle phobia and don’t see how I’m going to be able to sit while they put an epidural or a spinal block in
Has anyone got any advice or had any extra support when having the anaesthetic administered (eg Sedation ect)
I’m also so scared about what you feel and the nausea and shaking I have heard so much about
Any support or advice would be much appreciated

I feel you on the traumatic birth. I will have to get a c-section if I decided to have another kid and I’m terrified. The best thing to do that I plan on doing is plan for everythinggg. Talk to ur dr, even if things are scary. I wish I knew what was happening as it was happening so I wasn’t as freaked out . Also I’d plan out anxiety medication management before hand as well with a psychiatrist and ur OB. I was given Ambien before mine to help and I think that’s what sent me into a worse spiral after some googling that giving that to someone bipolar for anxiety is a bad idea. 🙃 long story short be aware of all possibilities and plan how to help ur anxiety, with backup options
