Speech Development.

My little one is 2 at the end of March and I’m worried that she’s not speaking enough.
She doesn’t attend nursery at the moment.
She does say some words but when googling I don’t think she says as much as they’re saying she should!

I’ve emailed the health visitor to see if they can do a referral for speech therapist. I know all children are different but I’m just so worried. (first time mum) x

Should I be worried?😢😭

Hey from what you have said honestly I wouldn’t be worried (much easier said than done!!) I say this as a first time mum, who has a two year old (start of Feb) my son’s speech slowed down and I panicked… we read and sing all the time, narrate the day etc. however it suddenly just comes … words I don’t think he was taking in like shapes. I think for a Speech therapist it’s a pretty lengthy wait and very delayed not babbling. All take their own time and some kids are maybe pretty quiet and can communicate their needs without needing much language.

I still have moments of worry and if your concern grows definitely do what you can to get an assessment but pre two and got some words sounds pretty good 😊

Thank you so much! It’s so hard isn’t it! Like I’m doing all I can at home while she’s not in a nursery setting but so hard xxx

My little one is 2 on Sunday and hardly says anything, just makes noises. I would try not to worry at this age they’re still babies. But I also recognise he’s my second so i am more laid back than I would’ve been if it was my first 🩵

My daughter is 2 on 31st of March, and she also says very few words. She is in nursery 2 days a week which has really helped as was advised she needed to socialize more to promote speech. Also need to encourage her to speak as she doesn't really seem interested unless she really wants something. I've seen a lot of babies her age saying the same amount of words so I don't think there is much to worry about and they will progress in their own time x

My son is 2 this week. He just about says head, banana, apples, eat, and few other random words. I did contact HV but they said not to worry and if by the time he’s 2.5 years old and he isn’t speaking then they will refer him but said all toddlers reach milestones with regards to language development at different times. I still do worry regardless but try my best to help him learn new words each day. X

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
