Bed time

How long is bed time taking for you? My LO used to take 20 mins but ever since she got a bug in November she takes 1hr-1.5hr to sleep. Even if she’s exhausted. It’s the same if she’s had her usual nap, shorter nap, or no nap. I’ve just had baby number 2 a few weeks ago and I don’t know how I’ll manage the 2 bed times.
I was just bf the newborn whilst sat in my toddlers room whilst she’s in bed. Both of them were fighting their sleep and getting agitated & overtired. I feel so bad as my toddler wants to sleep on my lap in the rocking chair but I tell her she has to sleep in her bed because my lap is hurting (only way she doesn’t meltdown). Then she sees the newborn in my arms/lap breastfeeding.

We've had the same thing! We've changed up the routine now in the last 2 weeks and it's helping to get it below an hour, but we're still at around 40 minutes. No baby 2 here, but we've stopped doing stories in bed and now do it all downstairs, so when she goes into her room the lights are already off, it seems to have stopped her night wakings too

I’m in the same boat with a 6-week old baby and a toddler that’s starting to resist bedtime. If you can, I recommend just having time with toddler instead of both.
I sit with her watching videos on my phone for a few minutes (up to 10 mins), lights off, wrapped in blanket. Then we turn the phone off and continue to cuddle. I then offer to put her to bed and let her resist, so I say, “ok we can keep cuddling” and take the chance to talk to her, “mummy loves you, you’re so brave and clever” etc, and when she’s relaxed again for a while I say “shall we put you down to sleep?” and move her to her crib. At any point if she starts to kick off I tell her she can continue to cuddle mummy, or we will put her straight to bed. If she is truly upset I’ll pick her up again, if she’s just shouting then that gets ignored. Longest it’s taken us was 30 mins of cuddling before she let me put her down, usually it’s about 5-10 mins after the videos before she’s out.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
