Gave birth on the 11th of Feb haven't let anyone see up close or hold the baby yet except from me and my husband. When did everyone start going out or start letting family hold them?

It was a couple of days later. But you’ll know when you’re ready!

My mum was at my birth, his parents came up the day after I gave birth and also the day after we got home so like 4 pp and then my siblings met him when he was a week old x

Thanks all! I also really want them to meet him, I just feel guilty in case anything happens

Most close family within the first week, just made sure people washed hands and weren't unwell x

We had visitors/ my MIL around after one month. I wanted to wait for him to get stronger and also I wanted to give myself time to recover a bit before having people around. I'll definitely do the same with my second baby. Also, we set up clear expectations and boundaries regarding what is allowed and what not:
- Washing hands before touching baby
- no kissing the face or hands
- smokers had to wash their hands and face and change the clothes or not have smoked before coming to us. If they didn't agree with that, they were not allowed to get close to our baby
- how to hold baby properly (some forget to support the head)
- no bouncing the baby up and down (I was surprised how many people think it's ok and "just calming the baby" 🙄)
-etc.
Communicate your boundaries straight and clear, so no one around you can gaslight you because of "not knowing"

First family was about 8 days but limited! Everyone came as a 2 or a 3 and maximum there an hour.
Just ask everyone to wash hands when they arrive and to not kiss baby

Family flew in when my first baby was 3 days out.
Mum came to the hospital for my second baby when he was hours old then looked after my eldest until I got out. She saw baby again on day 3 when I was home with him.
We never had rules on when we could have visitors, our family aren’t nearby so it’s a huge effort to visit and we welcomed the support tbh.

Emergency c section on Monday at 1:46am and MIL visited at 2pm. Then my partners adult niece at like 5pm. SIL came to the hospital the following day (Tuesday). And then had all other family members come at staggered times on the Wednesday and Thursday.
I was happy with this and felt great

Go with how you feel about it. Try not to feel too guilty (its natural) especially if its your first baby. The fear of the unknown can all be a bit scary. Don't feel forced and don't feel presssured into it. Everyone does whats right for them reading from the comments.

My first was the day he came home from the hospital because it was during COVID and he was in the NICU for a week. I wasn't even allowed in to see him 🙄
My second was born in the evening, my mom was with us so she held him that night. The rest of our family (siblings, parents, grandparents) all came the next day to meet and hold him in the hospital

The same day. What are your concerns?

Mum was in birth so straight away. Fiancès parents were the next day. My siblings and dad were 3 days after she was born but that was mainly due to them being 4 hours away. Fiancès siblings were about 10 days after birth. I said they were welcome to visit sooner but they wanted to give us space

My son was in the Nicu for 3.5 weeks, but when he came home everyone saw him. he came home from the hospital on thanksgiving though, and the doctors said it would be okay.

Few days after he was born my parents saw & held him , then when I got home after a week in hospital my siblings
I went to my midwife appointment this morning for a sweep.
Baby has been ready this whole pregnancy. I am 39+3.
I had a scan 8 days ago, she was growing lovely and engaged.
They couldn't do the sweep because baby has decided to completely turn and go breech right at the last minute 😞
Now I have to sit and wait all weekend until I hear from the hospital with a plan.
Stats show the most likely option is now a c section due to the timing.
I am absolutely gutted this has happened 😞

I’ve just been on monitor at assessment unit and they’ve asked if I’m having any tightenings and I said I could feel them but nothing major. Midwife said they are measuring higher than braxton hicks, has anyone else had this and it progressed?
Thanks!

I’m 3 weeks PP and feel good to go, like I’ve got an itch that needs scratching and I know my partner does too 😅
In the UK we’re advised to wait 6 weeks and he’s super considerate and wants to wait the full 6 weeks to ensure that I’m okay, has anyone else gone for it sooner than 6 weeks after a c section?

Did not expect the news today that I’m Infact having a little girl. Everyone says the cord is rare but it clearly isn’t. I’m total shock!
Need to exchange clothes. 🙈 hopefully it’s the same gender at our 20 weeks scan. Haha.

I would love to do my outings with my baby, however every time I take him out I end up having to take him out the pram and walk with him in my arms lol. It therefore puts me off wanting to go out as much because he cries in the pushchair.
Maybe I should take him out more to get used to it? Any other advice on how I can get him to just chill in the pushchair lol.

Hi I’m very early pregnant with my first! 5 weeks! I have suchhhh mixed emotions I hope that’s normal.
I also suffer with inflammatory bowel disease ( ulcerative colitis) wondering if anyone else pregnant with similar condition or an autoimmune disease and how it’s affecting it all?
