Weaning!

Hi all, I’m looking for some weaning ideas/meal ideas.
I started weaning end of January & so far I just feel like I’m giving my son the same thing day in day out (weetabix with some form of fruit in it) I’d love some ideas on what you’re giving your LO’s! He’s tried toast but started choking so im a little hesitant to try him again with it, he avidly has melty sticks as well which he seems a big fan of they just don’t seem very nutritious! Any ideas and recipes are welcome!!! TIA x

This morning I have my little one a smoothie bowl, got some coconut yoghurt, frozen exotic fruit that I defrosted night before and some oats and blended it, she loved it! I also struggle with coming up with ideas so I ask chatGPT to create meal plans for me 😂 x

I follow a few Instagram accounts that post great ideas and recipes. My.healthy_baby is one, real_foodbabies is another, and baby_led_weaning_cookbook is another 😊

Some favourites for my LO. Sardines mashed into scrambled egg, buttery crumpet sticks, pea and spinach puree, chicken and roast sweet potato puree, mashed banana, mashed avocado

I have an older son I still make snacks for, so I've been trying to do baby led weaning to save having to make double of everything...! Favourites are:
- broccoli cheese scones
- sweetcorn and spinach muffins
- scrambled eggs and toast fingers
- broccoli pesto pasta

Everything except the eggs is also freezer-friendly which is a godsend when running out the door.

When you hear your baby “chocking”. That’s a good sign as that’s what he’s meant to do!
If it’s silent that’s when you need to worry. They’re built to know when to spit and cough the food back up so don’t worry.

We’ve done foods like avocado with mackerel or cottage cheese.
Orzo has been a good favourite so far with chopped tomato and tuna.
Then lots of fruits, vegs and resting the allergens

This time round I’m trying to just have fun with it and doing lots of textures and flavours!

We like to have some puréed carrot and potatoes one spoonful of flour and egg yoke mix it together, fry it on a pan i usally make little sticks, melts like butter but sturdy enough for them to hold less chocking from my experience xx

I make scrambled eggs. Beat one egg in a bowl and add almost half the volume of the egg of freshly boiled water and beat again. (You can use cold - it just takes longer to cook). Cook gently in a little oil or unsalted butter until cooked through. It will stay really soft. While it cools I very very finely chop some cherry tomatoes and dill (if I feel lazy I cut the cherry tomatoes in half - squeeze the seeds onto the eggs and eat the rest myself!)
My little one loves it. Remember to offer lots of water to aid digestion.
Any left over I eat myself on toast, it’s nice enough that I often make double so we can share!
Don’t worry about the gagging too much. They need to learn how to safely move food bits around their mouth and the gag reflex is super sensitive at this age to keep them safe.

When theyre so little its best to focus on protein and vegetables than fruit as the sugar content is quite high for under 1s. We started on homemade whipped meat stock(bone broth), various vegetables blended - carrot, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, avocado, beetroot, sweet potato, lentils.

I give her little bits every day like a chicken wing/ lamb chop / carrot anything to hold basically she loves it

16 month old and 12 weeks pregnant

I am 4’10 and as the title states 12 weeks pregnant. My son will be 23 months old when his sibling is born. I recently moved from FL to MI so my son could grow up around in laws, but that doesn’t mean I have my village. ❤️‍🩹 We were planning to buy a larger home next year but the surprise baby (I was told I’d not be able to conceive again after a botched c-section) we likely won’t be moving until the following year into a bigger home. Does anyone have advice or has been through having 2 under 2 and still wanting to get back into college online as well as managing a small home with very limited yard space? We had planned so well and ended up being hit 70mph head on in the middle of a custody case for my nephew and my identity being stolen in the six figures. We fell pretty hard and picking up the pieces. It feels like Groundhog Day everyday, especially not knowing people or having my own village. My husbands’ family has a strong mentality of only blood is family so I am just an outsider living 1000 miles away from anyone I know, home alone 6x a week and feeling defeated and scared about baby on the way. I felt like I was just getting back to feeling like me before pregnancy began. Did anyone else lose their sense of self, identity, other than being a mom, once becoming a mother?

Help

My son is 18 months and he does not eat pieces of anything he still has pures and little pasta and some lumpy pieces but he will not eat a big piece/chunk unless it’s something that I am having. If I try to give him pieces of fruit/vegetables he will end up just playing with it rather than eating it. I don’t know what to do.

Why am I still in love with him and want to try again?

I, 29F have been with my kids father(40M) on and off for over 9 years. We're going to call him D. D has always been a good man throughout our relationship and an amazing father to our two children which are both boys aged between 10 and 8. We always went out or spent amazing time together as a couple and as a family up until recently. He has become super mean always yelling or copping an attitude when it's totally unnecessary. He picks fights over stupid stuff and would yell at the children for things that they didn't need to be yelled at for. Well, skipping to this year. He yelled at me so much to where I have a fear of him living with me. He's thrown things around the house breaking stuff and destroying anything within arms reach. All of it is because he felt he was losing control. He said it was my attitude telling him what to do or me complaining about how much I do and none of what he did. I work full time as what the kids call a midnight ballerina. I also do all the grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, getting the kids to and from school, as well as care for his needs and paying all the bills. He hasn't been working at all. Just been hanging out with his friends claiming he was working. I got tired of him not doing anything. I really mean nothing. I was taking Uber to and from work while D had a vehicle. I ended up kicking him out. He's been out of the house for a little over a month now. He told me he never agreed to leave before leaving. What I'm getting at here is, why do I miss him so much when he called me names when I tried to get him to get a job? Why do I miss him when I would watch him go nuts throwing stuff around the house and foam at the mouth when he yelled at me? Why do I miss him even though he screamed at me in front of our children? Am I in the wrong for demanding him to get a job? Am I in the wrong for kicking him out? I came here because I want someone else's opinion that I don't know. Can someone please help me understand what I'm feeling and point me on the right path?

Worried a little bit, did this happen to anyone else

I was out today with my daughter in her pram, well we were walking under some trees to a cafe literally seconds away, well we got there and I saw something on my daughters hand, I took her hand to know what was on it and realised, I quickly held her hand and wiped it down with baby wipes, while full on having an argument with my husband because he couldn't hear in the busy cafe what was going on, it was just a little bit on her hand, it was mainly on the side of her pram, inside and her blanket, which I quickly removed, I grabbed my daughter and whisked her to the loos and did a full wash of her hands and full explore of her mouth and lips to see if he put them in, I found nothing and I checked, I refused to put her in her pram for the rest of the day, I used the baby carrier, I got some anti bac spray for the pram and as soon as I back at out rented holiday cottage I took the insert and anything else that can be washed out the pram to wash in the washing machine, I have done it correctly, I am still thinking about it

Screen time help

I’m kind of new to this stay at home mom thing. We have recently done a huge move from Canada to the United States. Previously I had my son who is non verbal autistic, enrolled in preschool and day care, so he was kept busy most of the day.
With the move, I am unable to work with the visa I’m on but also decided it was probably best to stay home with my boys. We live in Nevada, and I haven’t heard the greatest things about the school system here, especially for non verbal kiddos.
My problem now is we spend way too much time watching tv. It’s really hot here in the afternoons so I don’t love spending too much time outside. We try and hit that in the mornings.
I also have a 1 year old, so I like to be home in the afternoon so he can have a nap.
It’s also not as easy as “just play with your kid” well I wish I could, but it’s really hard to get engagement from him. I also have adhd, and since there’s no feedback loop of interaction, I get very easily bored. So I feel like an awful parent on my phone all the time.
Looking for advice, maybe help with a routine.
