Advice

So I’ve had two scans recently, one was a private 4d (failed miserably as i have an anterior placenta) and an informal scan at the hospital due to reduced movements. At my 4d scan the clinician wasn’t really in depth about the wellbeing of baby girl and was just trying to get good 4d pics, but she did mention that my placenta was low and close to my cervix. Then I had a L&D doctor come and do an informal scan to see how baby was when i had RFM, who also saw that my placenta was low and ordered a formal scan to double check. However, at 20 weeks it was noted that my placenta was high. I had a call from a midwife on shift at the hospital who basically refused me a scan and cancelled the appointment because at 20 weeks the placenta was high on my report. She was adamant that the doctor was wrong and hasn’t offered me a scan. Can a midwife overrule a doctor like this? It can’t be a coincidence that two people have now said it’s low? Ive been worried about it since (happened a week ago) because god forbid my placenta is infact low and something goes horribly wrong! I know they usually move up but for peace of mind I would like to know for sure so we can take next steps like having further scans to check the position of the placenta before I give birth. I am low risk so I’m not due another NHS scan. I’ve attached a picture for reference, baby is head down, looks like the placenta is basically half way down baby’s head. What would you do in this situation?

Sorry to hear this. It sounds unlikely that 2 specialists would say one thing rather than a midwife saying another.
Do you know the name of the doctor? Could you call and ask if there's a way to speak to them?
If not, you are usually encouraged to say if you would like a second opinion so I would ask for another opinion.
I really hope they sort this out for you soon. You don't need the added stress and worry!

Can I ask why your 4d scan failed due to anterior placenta lovely? How far are you? I’d ask for a rescan, I have an anterior placenta and my 4d scan images were lovely x

I would trust the NHS scans more than a private scan. My 20 week NHS scan said my placenta was low, then when I went for a private 4D scan at 27 weeks, I specifically asked if my placenta was still low and they said it had moved up and is no longer low and said it was about belly button height. I then had to go to triage a couple of days later due to bleeding. The dr wasn’t too worried about bleeding unless I had a low placenta. I said I had a private scan that said it had moved up, but as it didn’t come with a report she booked me a scan anyway- turns out, it was still super low and almost placenta pravia. The sonographer was basically scanning my crotch showing me where it was.

So upset.

I went to my midwife appointment this morning for a sweep.
Baby has been ready this whole pregnancy. I am 39+3.

I had a scan 8 days ago, she was growing lovely and engaged.

They couldn't do the sweep because baby has decided to completely turn and go breech right at the last minute 😞

Now I have to sit and wait all weekend until I hear from the hospital with a plan.

Stats show the most likely option is now a c section due to the timing.

I am absolutely gutted this has happened 😞

Tightenings on Monitor

I’ve just been on monitor at assessment unit and they’ve asked if I’m having any tightenings and I said I could feel them but nothing major. Midwife said they are measuring higher than braxton hicks, has anyone else had this and it progressed?

Thanks!

Sex after c section…

I’m 3 weeks PP and feel good to go, like I’ve got an itch that needs scratching and I know my partner does too 😅
In the UK we’re advised to wait 6 weeks and he’s super considerate and wants to wait the full 6 weeks to ensure that I’m okay, has anyone else gone for it sooner than 6 weeks after a c section?

16 week scan - wrong gender

Did not expect the news today that I’m Infact having a little girl. Everyone says the cord is rare but it clearly isn’t. I’m total shock!

Need to exchange clothes. 🙈 hopefully it’s the same gender at our 20 weeks scan. Haha.

Outings with baby

I would love to do my outings with my baby, however every time I take him out I end up having to take him out the pram and walk with him in my arms lol. It therefore puts me off wanting to go out as much because he cries in the pushchair.

Maybe I should take him out more to get used to it? Any other advice on how I can get him to just chill in the pushchair lol.
