My little girl is getting a bit bored of the short flap books (like spot the dog) and the touch and feel books (like that's not my teddy).
I feel like she needs the next step up but I can't seem to find any. She still likes opening the flaps but she's more on autopilot doing it rather than actually taking in the pictures or interested. I did find a book that had a flap under a flap which peaked her interest again as it had another layer of complexity to it. So I'm looking for that kind of next level for her to explore.
I'd love to know what books your toddler loves for inspiration.

I started doing The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Wide Mouth Frog, and Dr.Seuss books after we got past the Spot books. My toddler will occasionally go grab his "Not my.." books though since he loves to say what's coming next. The Napping House is a current favorite as well, but took some time to get to and enjoy. Same for If you give a Mouse a Cookie/Moose a Muffin books.

I also liked to start with asking about colors, shapes, and animals across pages to solicit feedback from baby even on books he was past engaging with on a story level. It helped him master that info in a way that made it fun and when he asked for more stories we did the small board short read Dr.Seuss books and graduated into the full books as he was closer to 2. We do love a Berenstein Beard story too. There are good compressed volumes with several stories and he LOVES those.

We live the Don't tickle books, published by the same people that do the that's not my books but they're make noises and are more interactive. I actually run a business selling children's books, please DM me if I can help at all xx

Things like there’s a dragon/dinosaur/monster etc in your book are great. No flaps or touchy feely bits but gets involved in the story and asks them to do actions or say things or touch things on the page to progress the story along.

Feely Bugs is basic, but great. Dear Zoo is a great lift the flap to add to your collection. Don't Look Inside is fun. What's on my Farm and Marley Bear at the Farm are nice. Don't you Dare Brush my Hair is cute. Have you Ever Tickled a Tiger. Chomp Goes the Alligator. Follow Us. Follow Me Around the World. You could try a Poke-a-Dot book, although they are not my favorite. A 3 button sound book like Hoppy Little Frog or Love You Little Potamus.
And in a little while, 'Press Here', and 'Touch the Brightest Star'. 'Stir, Crack, Whisk, Bake' is also excellent.

Around that age, we were reading good night George (curious George the monkey book), blue clues books (helped with his pointing when we point where the clue is), goodnight moon. Right now at 18 months, he loves the llama llama books (llama llama misses mama, llama llama home with mama, etc). A book with flaps/touch is You're my little baby, a book with good colors/animals Brown Bear What do you See book. Also an Outer Space touch and feel book.

We have several of the collection Peekaboo (by Ingela Arrhenius) and Bizzy bear an he keeps playing with them after many months.

Thank you everyone for such great recommendations 😊 my little book worm will be very pleased and excited when I pick a few to purchase.

Let me also throw in a recommendation for a visual/front-facing bookshelf. It's great for encouraging early reading, and once you are ready to leave board books behind it can easily become a place for figurines, or even craft supplies.

I know I'm late, but I'm following. These look like some great suggestions. What I've been doing lately is borrowing books from the library and if I see that he likes it I'll purchase them.
Here's a few he likes:

I been married to my husband for 8 years now, things feel dead . He think it’s okay to disappear after work , be gone all night or even days without contact . He’s done this a handful amount of times .. each time detaching me even more. I have no trust for him so his words mean nothing to me.. he says he’s not wired to be in a marriage .. blames me for how he is and the things he does. Idk what he does when he disappears ..I’m broken for awhile .. tells me he goes to the bar all night or billiards .. idk I don’t believe anything .. he says things stating he doesn’t want to be here but doesn’t want to get a divorce.. claims he does have love for me just like he does his mom and grandma .. he’s just always on his phone through the days and nights when he’s here .. I feel alone and hated . I’ve given and have treated him with so much love and forgiveness.. I feel defeated , stuck , anxious, hurt , lost , and angry . What you you think of this. ? Maybe it’s me , I don’t know how to help or what to do if he’s not willing to put effort into building trust .. or if it’s even worth it considering I don’t feel loved or respected. I feel even that he might be cheating ..😵💫

For any first time mums thinking of sending their little one to nursery some time between 6months to 2 years, go sign up for the nursery now!!
I'm 19 weeks pregnant and submitted the paperwork for this baby to join the same nursery as my first when I was 15 weeks. Their waiting list is currently over 17 months so they don't have space at my planned return to work time when this baby is 10 months old. This is a small town nursery, I also enquired at my one at work and the wait list was over 24 months.
So just a gentle reminder for anyone thinking of sending their child to nursery, it's never to early to go and look at nurseries and sign your future baby up to one you like.

Hi moms! I need input. We currently have had a sitter for 2 months but feel like it gets expensive some weeks almost $1000. The day care is $400 week. I want to continue to work but with cost it’s starting to not make sense. We are considering a home daycare the lady has a 2nd child a few months older than my son. She has cameras but we won’t have access unless an incident occurs. Do we stay with the sitter and bite the bullet with cost or daycare where he can socialize and I feel learn from the observing. Keep in mind I get to work remote 3days so I get to be with him and BF. I only pump 1-2 days out of the week. I’m nervous being away so long I’ll lose my supply. If we go with daycare it’d be 5x week I can’t work with him yelling in the back.
I know it’s a lot just wondering what you guys are doing with them being this age.

Any recommendations for baby playgroups in the West End? Ideally near Byres Road?
I'm struggling to leave the house and would love to socialise with other mums and babies 😊
