I'm just frustrated. My daughter is 3 weeks old and I always take the night shift because my partner falls asleep and won't wake up. I don't mind it I've gotten into a rhythm with it but the exhaustion caught up to me today and not eating or drinking enough because we went to visit his family today. We got home and he told me to just sleep and he'll take care of her. He got frustrated a few times with me waking up to comfort her while he made her bottles because he feels like I don't trust him to take care of it but am I supposed to ignore my crying child laying right next to me when his hands are full? also he couldn't even make it through the whole night. We got to 4 am and he needed me to take her because he was falling asleep like dude I do this every night. My partner is amazing and I know he's trying it's all new to him too it's just exhausting and frustrating.

What Nadia said is a good idea. I’m the night owl so I have my daughter until 12am-1 and anything after 3am is my partner since he wakes super early. Maybe try something like that so one of you always gets a good stretch of sleep in

He has to learn to comfort the baby. My husband would do 8pm to 1am when we were in the trenches. A solid block of 5 hours sleep makes all the difference. I understand the waking bit - but if you trust him to wake you if he needs you, do what I did and put in ear plugs and sleep in a different room to them. (I took the bed and he had the sofa). I just had to tell myself I can’t parent safely when I’m sleep deprived as I would start hallucinating!

My husband and I did shifts...i would feed her at like 845 and then go to bed...wake up at midnight and pump and go back to sleep...hed feed her and put her in her crib by 1am and then I would get up from 3am onwards. So I got about a 6 hour chunk of sleep (broken obviously) and then he would sleep until like 7am before going to work.
It was hard when her witching hour started because she only wanted me and he couldnt comfort her...so we adjusted a bit but taking shifts is important.
You also kind of need to let him and her figure out their relationship. He needs to learn how to comfort her and she needs to learn to take comfort in him. If you always take over neither will learn.
If you work in childcare - a teacher / nursery practitioner. What Christmas gift you genuinely want?
I don’t want to buy my sons nursery baby staff a box of chocolate
Ideas please

What is everyone’s opinion on this?
For the record, I work 7.30-4.30 Monday to Thursday and my 11 month old goes to nursery 2 days a week on the 30 free childcare hours.
I’ve been thinking of asking my nursery if I can put my baby in on a Friday, even if it’s just for half a day. I’m so shattered and the house is a tip. She’s never been the happiest baby either from birth and I feel like I’m running on so little fumes now, it would be nice to have a couple of hours to myself to sort the house/ batch cook dinners etc but I feel like doing this massive awful thing by doing this. She’s just never happy and cries majority of the day and I think I just need a little break every now and again to keep my sanity…

So I have older children (15,10) I now have a 5 month old, I decided to wean at 4 months. But now the guidelines are strictly 6 months….Anyone eles started at 4 months? I did tiny spoons of baby 4+ porridge in the morning (3 max) soon as she turned 4 months. Now at 5 months she wants food! She loves food! I’m still only doing 5 maybe tiny spoons of say baby porridge in the morning, and blended veg in the eve while we have our tea. She still has 4/5 bottles during the day and her bedtime bottle.
In the next few weeks up to 6 months I plan to do blw where she helps herself to soft solids.
Please no judgement just interested to know if there’s many other people who weaned (a little!) from 4 months? 🙂

I never planned on having my daughter watch screens this early, but we wanted her to sleep with loud sounds right away so she's used to it and wouldn't wake up from small things and it definitely worked. She is just like my fiancé it makes me laugh sometimes. The way she sleeps and eats is just like him too. She’ll sit in her bouncer or swing and watch SpongeBob for hours now. It's her favorite show and I can’t get over it. she even laughs and reacts to it, it's so funny. It calms her down when she’s fussy sometimes, and she really loves the music. I can't wait until she's older so i can show her what my favorite shows were growing up, like strawberry shortcake🍓 or the barbie movies 💗
Do any of your little ones have a show they're interested in yet? Or specific music they like?

My LO started weaning on purées at about 4.5months (under doctor advice as he was a hungry boy and had reflux), we’re now introducing BLW as he’s 6 months old but I’m just wondering how many meals I should be offering him a day? With purées, he started on once a day but now has them 2-3 times a day along with his usual milk intake. Is this too much? He’s not sick and has always been a generally hungry baby but there’s so much conflicting information and I don’t want to be overfeeding him either as I have a feeling he’s going to be a greedy boy! 🤣
