Families/ parents coming to help?

Hi all! I have a question especially for the people that have parents/ family outside of where they live, even in different countries. Can I ask when you are "letting" them come to visit and potentially to give a hand with things? Both mine and my partner's parents are in another country, and I thought to tell my parents to come one week after the due date - staying in an Airbnb - and after around 3 weeks they will leave and my partner's parents will come for 3 weeks. In all this time my partner will be on leave too. I just feel that we might benefit from couple of days at least alone at home with the baby, and I don't know how I will feel, I kind of want to have a second for us to process the change on our own etc - even if they won't be staying with us I feel like I will feel the pressure of them being around. But parents are getting offended/ taking it personally that we don't necessarily want them here already from the due date. I am just struggling to stick with what I feel is right because I feel bad/guilty and I understand we might need help etc.

I have had a similar issue with my own parents but I’ve just stuck to my boundaries and said this is what we are doing rather than this is what we want - that way it’s not up for interpretation or negotiation . And I haven’t brought it up again. Albeit I said 2 weeks after my due date incase I went over (however I’m now most likely having a c section)
Hope this helps xx

You Fe so right in thinking this way
I made a big mistake with my first they all came two weeks after due date and honestly it was overwhelming
My sister kids were sick and they gave it to her she was only two weeks
… this time around my brother is coming for two night two weeks after due date
I told everyone else to come when baby is two months or they can wait until we visit ..
we are the same all or immigrate family live abroad…

We’re not having visitors until at least a month in. Stick to your boundaries x

My parents live in France, when my son was born they were here from the start we had a couple of nights is two then my partner left for work abroad and my parents stayed with me for that week at the house was fine to be honest I guess depends on how you get along with them

Both my partner and I have our families in other countries. My mum will come and help me when my partner needs to go back to work (he works abroad). All other members of the family will have to wait until we visit them in their countries. And when that will happen is down to the baby and how I feel after C section. People will have to wait until we give the go ahead. No one seems to mind.

With my first I lived literally two doors down from my parents so really easy for them to come around etc but we told them and my partners family that we wanted a week to ourselves and they respected that , my family came around when I said they could and his family came around after 10 days. They visited for 20/30 minutes max then didn’t come back around until we said which was honestly 2/3 weeks later
I think you just need to stand your ground and tell them not to come visit/stay until you are ready, that’s your bonding time and healing time you don’t need them getting in the way as such don’t feel bad about it!

We don’t really have anyone to help us in this way. My mum is disabled and my husband’s mum passed away a few years ago. However, my mum did get offended when I told her the other day she won’t be able to see us until I let her know we’re ready.
It’s just one of those things, always stick to your boundaries.

My mum (and rest of my side) lives about 2.5hrs away, I would like her there near to little ones birth (if possible) so she’s planning to come up once I go to the hospital but then she’ll stay for a couple days before going home. Then our plan is for her to come back to stay for another week a bit later on when my partner has to go back to work. My partner’s parents live down the road so it’s tricky because we will want them to meet little one as soon as possible but they will then keep their distance unless we need them. So I don’t want my mum to feel left out having to wait longer initially. We definitely intend to have majority of the first few weeks as just me and my partner though x

We didn’t have visitors other than our immediate relatives pop in for the first 2 weeks as I really wanted to cherish those moments the 3 of us and we were learning each day what to do / surviving on minimum sleep I didn’t want to host or socialise much. However, second time I’ll be more relaxed and take all the help I can get. Do what you want and don’t worry about other people’s opinions ☺️ one thing I hated was people coming over with perfume on as it stays on the baby for days and I wanted to smell the newborn smell not someone’s perfume. We always asked people to wash their hands & no kissing which I’ll do again

Tbh all I wanted was my mum after I had my first baby 😂 my in laws came after a few days and I was very happy to be cooked for, baby held whilst we napped/showered and just having an extra pairs of hands for chores. I think it depends how well you get on and how helpful they will be. Do what’s right for you!

My mum will come in April for 10 days to help me to set up all things for the baby. Then she’ll go back Italy, and my sister will come in May and she’ll stay with me for 2 months…so that once my husband will go back work from paternity leave, I won’t be alone.

Day 1. I don’t have any boundaries 💁🏻‍♀️ if anyone wanna bring food and love on me and my baby you’re very welcome to. Coz not everyone would want to. For those that do, are welcome. I’m blessed to have my MIL cook and clean for me for 2m PP, and my sisters and close friends alternate and come and see what I need, or just come keep me company and listen out for baby as I take a long ass 1hr shower. I didn’t get PPD any of my 3 births coz I had people around me from Day 1. But I did the same for my sisters when they gave birth, I was there nearly every other day.

So my family live a 4 hour drive from us. My mum is going to come a week before my due date because we also have a toddler who she will need to stay with when I’m in labour. In that final week I will also be exhausted and needing extra help with my toddler when my husband is at work. The rest of my family can come and see us within the week of baby arriving but possibly stay in a hotel apart from my dad who can stay with us/ my mum. We don’t have room to host my 2 brothers and I don’t want to feel overwhelmed with them staying as well as my parents.
My husband’s parents live in the same town as us and will pop in to the hospital for a short visit once I’m ready and we are fine with that. We are very close to all of them. Everyone is respectful of our rules same as we had with our first , ie no kissing.

Sour patch kid

How are we dealing with our Sour Patch Sons? My 2 yr old knows how to push all my buttons and I am getting to my wits end. He is tall for his age so he is able to get into everything. A lot of things in our house is locked up but I feel i shouldn't have to lock every cabinet, drawer, closest. I have a 2 month old and the toddler likes to get into things while I am feeding. I almost feel like I need to lock the toddler up. Also the toddler is acting out and when he does he does something bad he then acts all cute and kind. Or he knows he does something bad and just laughs when i get upset. He also tells me he is scared when he doesn't want to do something like go to bed, to the potty, eat dinner. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Job change now I have 2 children. Currently a childrens social worker

I am a children's social worker so 36 hours full time 9-5. Background has always been kids ( sen worker in schools, teaching assistant, higher teacher assistant in an sen school, family support worker in social care SEN and now my current role as a children's social worker.

However now I have 2 kids 1 2.5yrs and a 2 week old. I want to just utilise the 30 hours funded childcare.

Unsure what jobs to go into. I have a lots of suggestions from AI but now overwhelmed because there's so many options.

Can anyone think of good roles to support my my kids doing term time hours at a nursery.

Somethings I was thinking of maternity support worker- 8pm-8am I was in hospital for a few days so got talking to staff who are parents and do this job because it allows them to do pick up and drop off without issues. I was thinking a school social worker ( hard to get) discharge social worker at a hospital ( never see these advertised though) im thinking something like a hospital because its 24 hours so can be flexible with shift pattern i think! Anyway any suggestions are welcome.

PEPPA PIG WORLD

Has anyone been to Peppa Pig World / poultons park on their own with a toddler before? I want to take my 2 year old (25 months) but his Dad doesn't have any annual leave left, and it seems quite expensive to ask grandparents to come along.

Also, would you take a buggy? I fear having to chase after my toddler with a buggy in tow would be a pain, so thinking not?

Am I lazy? Am I a shitty wife?

Am I being lazy? I’m 23 weeks pregnant… cooking isn’t my favorite thing anymore I’m always just wanting to be in bed. I work from 4:30pm to 12:30am and get home after 1am. I end up going to sleep around 2-3am after showering and trying to force myself to sleep.

My husband has been complaining I rather buy food out than cook when I truly have no energy to cook. He said plenty of woman get up to make sure their husband has a meal to come home too. But I just don’t have the energy!

I used to wake up in the mornings (before this job) and make him breakfast and have lunch ready for him packed up at 5:30am for him to take to work. I stopped. Again just trying to get rest in. Idk how to find the energy or if I’m just making this up in my head. Definitely starting to make me feel like a shitty wife.

Also I did complain about dishes. Sunday night I cleaned the whole house, did All laundry folded, and cleaned the kitchen but left dishes in the sink thinking he would see how I did everything I just needed him to wash those dishes. He claimed I cooked made a mess and didn’t wash the dishes I used… you would think if I cooked he would meet me half way instead I’m being blamed.

How do yall do it?

I am REALLY struggling 😭

My 29 month old has never been very adventurous with her food and wouldn’t often try new stuff although she eats whatever at nursery. She had sickness 2-3 weeks ago and ever since, even her safe food she won’t touch. She’s asks for pizza and eats only the cheese. Her eating is really starting to upset me and stress me out. Every night I cook a meal and she cries at it and pushes it away.

I don’t know what more I can do
