Friend made a comment that’s been playing on my mind. Am I overthinking it

So I’m exclusively breastfeeding my 5 month old baby girl. Some back story Early into my bf journey i tried to incorporate one pump a day and replace it with bottle (so my husband can give my breast milk in bottle while i sleep), this didnt work out and i got mastitis at one point which resulted in my milk supply dropping. Baby girl was choosing the bottle over me which doesnt help with trying to get my supply back up. Im a SAHM so i chose to exclusively breastfeed and im honestly loving every second of it. Its never been hard apart from when i had mastitis. Since she was choosing the bottle i said to myself i’ll never reintroduce it as i literally do not need to!!!

I had booked concert tickets for end of feb this year. I booked the tickets at a point when she was used to the bottle, before we had the problem i stated above. Now that shes ebf i had to sell my ticket and ended up not going. This is where the issue starts. I told my childhood friend who im close with (she doesnt have kids, isnt married etc) she made a comment saying ‘youre so hard on yourself’. I didnt get what she meant so i asked in what way and she said i should let my hair down once in a while and leave my baby, go have fun etc. knowing that i EBF!!! I was like do you want me to leave my baby just so i can have fun? Its never that important for me to ‘have fun’ by getting drunk or getting high. That was of course once how i had fun but i honestly enjoy my time with my baby more than ive ever enjoyed anything in life! I cant emphasise this enough. Shes also a friend who when i complained i was struggling during the newborn trenches she said ‘nobody said it was gona be easy’. She always makes silly ignorant immature comments and this bf comment really got to me. How dumb do you have to be to not understand that i EXCLUSIVELY BREASTFEED. Im my babies food source??? Is it really that hard to understand?

Am i overthinking this conversation? I can give more context but this is the main thing that pissed me off. What do you ladies think? Has anyone made comments about how you feed your baby?

Oh god at least she doesn’t have kids… my very close friend childhood friend ( or used to be )
Kept on offering to go on weekend away and I kept saying I EBF and don’t wanna leave my daughter
She kept saying oh look at me I leave my son since he was two months … and oh you became so boring … old lady I heard it all .. so she was trying to intimidate me so I give in and go with her …
Now I don’t talk to her much anyway ..
in you case I think she is just ignorant and you have to stop her from making this comment or put a distance between you too
Don’t let get into your head …

I think alot of people don't understand... I'm also ebf i give one bottle pumped a day before bed because he sleeps longer and gives my boobs a rest haha but my boy is 5.5 months and I've still never gone anywhere without him except to pickup a drive through 😂 my friends invited me out for her birthday last Friday and I didn't go cuz she hadn't booked the table till 8 I told her before booking I'd have to bring my boy which she was fine with but then after booking the table for 8 his bedtime is then so I literally couldn't go cuz I need to put him to bed and they all tell me I need a night off etc but I don't want a night off it makes me super anxious wen I leave him for just 30 mins I can't imagine being away for longer than an hour so just do wats best for u I don't really care who I upset anymore they just don't understand tht I'm a mum now and tht comes first above everything in my life I've since made some new mum friends and it's so nice tlking and hanging out with people who understand

I honestly don't think she meant it in a horrible way. Sounds like she knows how hard its been on you and just wanted you to have some time to yourself. Definitely people don't understand FULLY until they have kids. I sure as hell didn't. I now look at all my mum friends with pure adoration.

But I would let her know how it made you feel as its rubbed you the wrong way instead of ruminating on it. Or just choose to ignore all the dumb comments.

I'd assume she doesn't get it. I don't think you're overthinking it, and youre right to feel how you're feeling.
I also breastfeed, baby doesn't like spending time without me with her dad because he can't feed her. I've had three evenings out the house with my friends, the last one didn't go to plan and I came home.
The comment about you finding the newborn stage hard was uncalled for! But the other comment is purely out of ignorance. I wouldnt keep a friend around that makes me feel like this but that's just me.

It’s hard not to over think but if you really wanted to go to the concert you would’ve made a way, you’d rather be home with your baby, she won’t understand since she’s not a mum and not breastfeeding don’t worry mama

Honestly, there were a lot of things I thought I would never do or people were exaggerating before coming a mom. She probably doesn’t realize it’s something that would bother you, doesn’t make it right but try not to take it personally. The shift our mind goes through and our priorities change so quickly

You mentioned it's her engagement party soon, so you just wait.. she'll be on the phone venting to you soon. Husbands literally all live the same lives I swear 🤣

I don’t think she said anything bad at all by saying you’re hard on yourself for not wanting a night off. Yes she may not understand yet what it’s like to have that bond or EBF but it sounds to me like she just wanted you to get a break which is actually healthy to be honest.

Night time sleep advice

Heyyy!!
We have been advised from the GP that we no longer need to wake our 7 week old to feed at night. However, at the 7 hour mark I tend to wake her as I worry about her sugar levels etc. When I do wake her she is really hard to wake. I do the usual nappy change, tickle her feet but can take about 20 mins for her to wake up. I have been told she is a healthy weight but I worry that this many hours is too long for her little age. Am I wrong for waking her after 7 hours?
(She is formula fed and currently weighs 12 pound)

Refusing nap at age2 help!

My little one is 2y 2m old. She has just all of a sudden stopped napping. Nursery told me they spend half hour with her and she won't sleep and same at home. I'm really worried nursery will stop trying. But she just will not settle down at all all of a sudden. Help please. It's way too early for her to drop the nap!

14 w/o slept for 15 hrs?

She’s 14 weeks. Yesterday we decided to try putting her to bed at 8pm (she usually just comes with us at around 10/11). So we bathed, boobed and transferred to bed by 8. We kept the room dark and she slept there for an hour before waking up. I then took her back with me but she continued sleeping until 11. Woke up at 11, had her nappy changed. All happy as can be. Then slept until 3. Breastfed. Nappy changed at 5. Breastfed. Slept until 7, breastfed. Still asleep now at 11am?

Is this normal? She’s still having wet nappies, feeding, etc. should I wake her? She started trying to roll to her front yesterday, so idk if she’s just tired from the workout 😅

Trike 1 year old winter

It’s my daughter birthday next week and I was thinking about getting her a trike I really like the little Dutch one but then I’m thinking would I actually use it because it’s nearly winter so she’ll be in her pram a lot with foot muff and we don’t seem to go out a lot in pram whilst she’s awake.

Opinions if you’ve got one do you use it or waste of money?

Postpartum sex drive

My baby is 17 months now, and I thought that by now my sex drive would be back. I still do it for hubby but it I can’t seem to actually want to. All the loose skin on my stomach is just such a turn off. I’ve come to accept I’ll probably need a tummy tuck once I’m done having kids, but I’m until then idk how I’m ever gonna have any drive. Any advice from anyone feeling the same?
