My son isn’t old enough to start eating solids just yet but since he will be ready by next month I’ve been trying to get myself ready and figure out everything beforehand.
Since BLW often results in a huge mess…I’ve been trying to think about how I would do it if we were to go out in a restaurant whatever…
How do you do it and could you maybe share some tips?

We generally didn't do restaurants at that age. It's best done at home. On rare occasions we did go out we'd either bring a bit of food from home or give small amounts from our plates. The mess is just kind of going to happen. I tip the waitresses generously, even if my toddler doesn't make much of a mess.

When we go to restaurants I control the spoon or only give three bites on the plate at a time depending on what we are eating.

I clean up afterwards and also give small amounts of what ever I am eating. We also only go out to eat right after nap time.

When she was littler she shared our food and we brought wipes etc to clear up the floor after

There are plenty of things that aren’t that messy. But to start you only do one meal a day. We don’t do 3 meals until 10 months so it would be easy to take them to a restaurant at a time they didn’t need to eat solids for at least a few months.

Yeah as others have said, you don’t have to rush to do it out and about and also just give them smaller handheld items - pancake strips, fritters - and be prepared to clean the floor after. As you usually start with breakfast while doing allergens etc lunch is an add ‘bonus’ and usually we gave food at that point outside for him to be familiar with being in the high chair etc rather than for quantity x

We used to bring finger foods with us so it wasn’t too messy. And then we’d give them things from our plate. It was much easier then by also easy to overthink it. Sometimes, I would bring a spare blanket and put that under the high chair at the restaurant to catch all the droppings. But most of the time, wait staff are happy to help with clearing it up if it becomes messy. I just apologise and ask for the dustpan and brush but they always do it instead. If anything, they loved seeing daughter trying foods and always interacted with her.
I’ve never shied away from taking her to places because I believe that exposure from a young age is helpful for their growth.
We did 3 meals a day from 7.5 months because we started with 2 meals a day at 6 months under medical guidance due to weight loss

We started eating at restaurants when my daughter was a bit older, maybe 9 months? But friends and family who did BLW shared from their plate, ordered what they could from the menu (side veggies etc) or even brought their own food. My auntie did a packed lunch for my cousin when we went out with them and he had a little bit of her chicken on top.

I tend to give my daughter a main meal at home before we go out, and the take little finger foods with us like some melty puffs/sticks, veggie straws, biscottis, so that she can still eat too x

Both of mine just made a big mess in lots of places. I always clean up the worst of it, but most places are totally fine with it and just bring a brush and pan after. Honestly never had any issues with this. Family friendly places are obviously ideal. I wouldn’t go to a really really posh place

As someone who used to be a waitress, I was always grateful when parents would wipe up the majority of the mess and pick up the food that had fallen on the floor. This was a regular occurrence at any age from weaning to preteen 😅
But as a mum I would recommend giving bits off your plate, that's what we are doing at home, no point doing a whole plate for a small human who's just sucking on food and having small bites 😅
On Instagram your seeing all these post about husbands doing all the cooking, cleaning, food shop and looking after the other kids and allowing you to sleep, rest and focus on caring for the new baby..
Is this even possible. My husband helps but im still doing everything like usual. Im cooking all our meals, mowed the garden yesterday, hoover daily wash and hang the clothes outside. He is making our toddlers packed lunch for nursery and does the food shop but other than that everything is our usual. I havent had this waited on hand and food situation I see on socials 🤣😅😬

So both me and my husband had our friends round last night for a few drinks, I’ve been feeling unwell for a few days but just powered on like I do everytime I feel a bit rough.
Today I’ve woken up really unwell high fever, being sick, hot and cold shivers and a swollen throat. I was up with my son 2.5 years old from 6am and I let my husband lie in he came out around 930am and I then took myself back to bed as I’m crying feeling so unwell. All I can hear is him saying to my son go find mummy I’ve just looked in the room and he’s lying on the sofa falling asleep whilst my son sits with him just watching tv. I know my son is going to be a nightmare later as he’s not bothered to give my son a nap. But he’s just lying there either on his phone or closing his eyes.
I feel so unwell I haven’t got it in me to go in and just take my son and sort everything myself. When my husband is unwell I make sure I do everything and give him a break. He goes off to play golf every weekend for around 8 hours I’m always with my son and I don’t get a break . I do everything with my son but he makes out he’s amazing and does so much with him. I think he’s only ever taken him out on his own twice in his life I’m always there to organise and do everything

Having to ask permission from my partner to go have a bath on a Sunday is insane. Yet he walks out the house when he likes to go smoke or plays on his laptop when he likes without a care in the world.
Told him to put the baby on the playmat so he can kick around his answer well all he does is cry and I hate the sound of him crying. It’s consuming…
Bear in mind football is on at 4:30pm and I’m gonna have to cook dinner and do bedtime routine.
Sorry just need a rant.

I have to leave for work at 6am but my son has to leave for nursery at 7:30am. I’m a single mum. I only need this service twice a week. Can you suggest what my options are? I’m just want to know what my options are in this situation. I am based in Gillingham Kent UK.

Me my partner and 2 kids (aged 1 and 4) have gone out for the day, the kids were getting grumpy as there hungry. I said we need to get food and he was just walking around in circles not getting food. So we get to a Tesco and I said I’m grabbing the kids a meal deal each and again he’s just walking around Tesco not a care in the world so he said he wanted cereal bars we find them I said what ones and he had a go at me and storms out the shop and then we get into the car and he starts shouting at me saying I’m the reason he’s not home much.
But all I’ve been saying is the kids need to eat as there hungry.
