Hi all,
I had an emergency c section in April 2023 after a placental abruption during labour at 42 weeks. As such, not really keen to go overdue again as they aren’t sure whether it was due to being so overdue.
I’m currently 38+5 and got a midwife appointment tomorrow. I can’t really be induced due to previous abruption but they are happy to let me try VBAC.
I’m getting a bit disheartened as nothing looking likely for this baby to come before/on my due date and know I will be encouraged to book c section for due date or just after.
Starting to wonder whether I should push to go over my due date by a few days or just accept my fate! I found c section recovery to be really hard and just can’t seem to get my head around booking it and going in and lying on that table without all the adrenaline of being in labour etc.
My experience may be a little niche but is anyone in a similar position at all that can empathise?!
Thank you!

Not in a similar position, but is it recommended not to go post dates after a previous abruption? Because if it doesn’t make a difference, let yourself go over and just have monitoring. I only ask because maternity care in the nhs are very much against women going past their due dates without any real cause for concern. I had an induction booked in at 40+5 with my first daughter, purely for being over 40 weeks? She was normal size and the pregnancy was healthy now I know that was wrong. They seem to be incredibly risk averse and also overstretched staffing wise I wonder if they’re also trying to plan and schedule their women that are due.

Sorry in advance for the long post, but wondering if anyone has experienced the same…
I woke up Saturday evening/Sunday morning with unbearable, constant throbbing across my back deep into my ribs. This spread across the front of my ribs and the constant dull ache made me feel like I was going to be sick. It more feels like something behind/beneath my ribs rather than my ribs themselves.
Called triage and got asked to come in to the maternity assessment unit, baby was fine and all my obs came back fine also. Nurse was unsure what was causing it so we waited for the dr.
Dr said she suspected trapped wind and severe heartburn, gave me some omeprazole and an anti nausea tablet and sent me on my way. Luckily pain had eased by the time I got home so could make to fall asleep after being awake all night.
Two nights later the exact same pan started again, but omeprazole didn’t help at all - was just up all night in pain.
Had my midwife apt this morning and she says she’s not sure what it is either, but doesn’t think it’s trapped wind or heartburn - I said I agreed as have been passing gas fine, regular bowel movements etc. have had some heart but the past few weeks but nothing gaviscon hasn’t helped.
She’s told me the next time it happens to come back in, even if baby is fine during the episode, I’m clearly not if I’m unable to sleep through it.
She’s ruled out pre-eclampsia, was just wondering if anyone has ever had anything similar in their pregnancy and what the issue was/what helped ease it? Really hoping it doesn’t happen again as it’s exhausting me and is quite painful!

Anyone planning a home birth? If so, what are your reasons why? For me, the recent national news has put me off so much that I feel like a homebirth gives me the option of undivided attention from a very experienced midwife which overall sounds far less risky to me then being in a hospital where guidelines are unable to be followed despite best intents. (I do live very close to the hospital if anything happened - I think I would assess the risks differently if I lived further away)

Been trying for nearly a year now. Periods are always quite regular everyday 28/29 days. I'm on cycle day 35 now with no sign of period but negative pregnancy tests. Experiencing a lot of back pain and left sided pelvic pain. Has anyone experienced this and any idea of what could be going on
