my baby daddy wants my daughter to spend the summer with him, his wife, and their kid… but his plan? throw her in gymnastics camp the whole time so he can “look like a parent” without actually parenting. 🙄 he barely sees her outside holidays because he moved states, and his wife works fulltime… yet somehow he thinks a camp schedule counts as quality time. like… what?? she’s his kid, not a temp activity. he literally thinks signing her up for activities while checking out is parenting. i don’t want my daughter stuck around his wife or their kid for weeks while he ignores her, and i told him he needs to actually use his PTO to spend real time with her but of course now i’m the bad guy. summer camps are just an excuse to get rid of my kid while they flex their “perfect little family.” i sacrifice my PTO during summers, miss work for her constantly, and they act like they can do whatever they want. they already told her, so now i look like the villain for actually trying to protect her. she never gets 1 on 1 time with her dad, he always has to make it a “family thing” and i’m done watching them use my kid to rub their marriage in my face while i carry all the responsibility. like… are we really calling this parenting??

Let her go and see how she feels when she comes home. Love don’t stress children always know who really loves and cares for them. 💯

how old is your daughter? does she want to go spend the summer there? and how does she feel about the gymnastics camp?

Him creating a way to do something she loves when you cannot is far better than being totally absent. I know it’s not ideal but neither is your daughter not having her parents together. It’s going to feel like he’s playing dad of the year at his convenience but if it benefits the kid then you just have to get over yourself sometimes. She’s only 9. You can’t expect her to understand adult conflict. Not allowing her to have this time will make you seem like you don’t want her to have a fun. It’s okay to let dad have some wins. Once kids reach about 13 they start to comprehend what is going on in the adult world but let her be a happy child as long as possible because the world will rip it away from her when she’s an adult as it does to all of us in some way. Just make sure she has a way to contact you anytime like sending a cellphone if she doesn’t already have one. If she wants to live there let her. She will eventually see that the grass isn’t greener on the other side.

I hate to say this, but if your daughter’s old enough to communicate- everyone’s on the same page except you. You’re holding a lot of resentment and bitterness and i think you’re overanalyzing what would happen when she’s there. If your objective is to do whats best for your daughter, then let her go! Having that mindset shines more of a negative light on you than anyone else. You’re saying you don’t want to depend on his family for help, but in the same hand you’re saying he’s not doing enough as a father. I think you need to really consider this

Uff I just separated from my bd and I’m not looking forward to when this happens and I have to share my kid for summer breaks and deal with his new girl and stuff bc he also moved to a different state.
I know it’s not fair to u. Lean on ur daughter for help and support, sometimes kids can save us they teach us a better way of life.

Is the camp like a over night stay type of thing or does he have to pick her up daily?

Based on your comments, you said your daughter would enjoy it bc she loves gymnastics. Based on what you wrote, you sound kind of bitter. You wouldn’t have to utilize your PTO over the summer, she would do something she’d enjoy & he would still be spending time with her unless it is a sleep away camp, which I’m assuming it is not.

If a mom sent her child to a camp program it wouldn’t be counted as not parenting. I could see it being bad if she didn’t want to do it. How’s it any different from sending a kid to school/daycare and not seeing them until afternoon/evenings. Kids need both parents. This seems like you’re jealous and you’re letting that interfere with them having a relationship at all . You gotta heal.

Just read that you said she loves gymnastics… he’s putting her into something that she’ll love and she’s going to remember that forever. Let her enjoy her summer

In the best interest of your daughter, this is going to be a life experience she gets to enjoy and learn from it.

I wouldn’t take the comments harshly. I feel like a lot of single mothers have the same kind of feelings you do. You are a person with emotions just like anyone else. Healing the hurt is part of life. Your hurt feelings will show up in her life if you don’t. And you don’t want that. I understand that each situation is different but reaching a point where you can feel happy that your daughter is happy safe and loved no matter where she is at is the most important and it is challenging. Remember that this is all for her. I know it’s hard to hear that you need to heal and it’s not your child’s job to regulate your emotions. It has taken us 3 years to get our coparent to realize that we are not trying to take the kid away from her we just want her to have as many good memories as we can make possible. Having a good parenting relationship is just as important as the relationship you have with your child. I wish you healing and happiness❤️

Sweetheart, the first step to healing is admitting there is something wrong. You’ve expressed that you are jealous over the fact that he’s moved on & in turn are directly affecting your child. Unfortunately things don’t work out the way that we wish they would but we cannot be selfish when it comes to our little ones. You are blocking both your & her blessings by holding onto such resentment. Perhaps sending her for the summer will allow you just that time to find yourself & give yourself the space you need to grow in this season. It sounds to me like your BD moved on to a woman who does not harm being involved with your daughter’s life. If she is good to your child, embrace that. People come into your life for a season, reason or lifetime. The way you speak of your baby sounds like your BD was only there for a reason & that was to bring you her. Do better for her & yourself bc you owe it to yall. I hope you figure it out. Don’t punish your baby bc things didn’t work out the way you

I have such intense regret about leaving having my child so late, I’m 40 and he’s now 6 months old. I wish I’d had him 10 + years ago, I feel like such a fool that I’ve missed out on so much time with him. I was too busy at a job that ultimately doesn’t matter and studying for a qualification I probably won’t ever use.
Not sure of the point of this post, I wondered if anybody else has the same feelings.
when I bring it up to my partner he just says nothing you can do about it which I know is right. I need to just get over it and enjoy my time.

Hiya ladies, I’m stuck at the moment I don’t know what to do. This morning i took a tumble down the stairs in my flat, gone to a&e and am now on crutches in a lot of pain. Thankfully i didn’t have my little one but still quite a scare as that could have happened.
I now don’t know what to do. My mothers offered for me to stay at hers for a couple of days until I can manage the pain and to help me do little things such as make and sterilise bottles etc. My partner doesn’t want to stay at my mums, but he’s at work and I will be struggling to do everything on my own. What do I do?

Ive spoke before but I actually don’t know what to do ….
It’s a completely battle in the morning, screaming, kicking, fighting( not me just more to get things on) … I showed a video to family members and they think it’s not right the way he’s acting in the sense of he’s showing complete panic and fear!
His sleep has been effected, sometimes throughout the day he has a little cry worried I’m taking him nursery (even tho he’s already been) he is stress grinding his teeth a lot, I’ve asked while he does it what’s he thinking about he’ll have a little cry and say don’t leave me, not nursery!
It’s really stressing him - and hard to figure out whether this is doing more harm than good at this point 😔😭
