Early morning wakes

My LO is sometimes waking early in the morning around 5am and I’ve tried a few things and nothing seems to help. Even if I put her to bed later she will wake up early. Yesterday for example she had 2 naps (because she had a long one) nap 1 was 2hrs and nap 2 was 3:45pm- 5:15pm. She then went to bed at 7:45pm. I was convinced that because she went to bed so late (she usually goes to bed at 6:30-7pm) she’d wake up later today but no, 5:15am wake up and she’s just gone for her first nap at 7am 🙃 Any ideas where I’m going wrong? Sometimes she wakes at 6:30-7ish but I don’t notice anything that causes that to happen? Maybe I should’ve woken her earlier from her second nap but because she missed one nap she was knackered.

Going to bed late rarely helps with early wake ups, HV told me that and it’s so true, half the time i find if we give her a later bedtime shes up earlier than usual 🙄

Is there any way you can move afternoon nap earlier and have it end no later than 4:30 for a 7pm bedtime? Ideally even end for 4pm giving a large wake window before bed?

We’re somewhere in a weird mix of 2-3 naps, our sporadic 2 day nap she slept really well at night and woke up about 30 mins later than usual in the morning but tried it again yesterday and she was exhausted before nap 2 so it became a 3 nap day again 😅

yeah I agree with the later bedtime earlier wake up link, I’ve noticed this too! I just ended up trying it yesterday because naps were all over the place. It’s so hard because she wakes up at all different times every day so we’re not on a schedule yet, just follow her lead and she naps when she’s tired. Yesterday she woke up from nap 1 at 12:45pm so I put her down at 3:45pm (she refused it at 3:15pm hence the longer wake window). We’re all over the place with naps which makes it so difficult. Some days she’ll go down for a nap at 4/4:30pm because of the timing of the earlier nap (e.g. it ended at 2/3pm) so she wouldn’t last from then until bedtime at 7. It’s a nightmare! 😂 Id love to be able to get her up at a set time but because some days she’ll wake at 5am I can’t get into that routine

They say that most babies have a set amount of sleep in 24 hours

From tracking i know that my little one is around 14 hours in total so I cap her naps at around 2 hours all day.

Normally thats a 45 min nap in the morning, then 1.15-1.30 in the afternoon. This allows her to have 12 hours left for night sleep

Seems to work pretty well for us but I know some people dont like to cap naps.
If your having long day naps you should expect less sleep at night, which is maybe why later bed isn't helping with a later wake up

We also extended our wake windows to 3 hours recently as she dropped her 3rd nap.

We were on a routine and then teething and illnesses threw it out of the window, but usually a 6:30ish wake up, nap at 8:30/9ish, nap at 12ish and then nap at 3/3:30ish and then bedtime at 7 but she has always been a 30/40min napper so it’s been easier in that sense.

When i can get her to 2 nap thats usually 1st nap about 3 hours after waking followed by a wake window of about 4 hours and then ideally a longer nap of up to 2 hours.

If she had to go for a late nap at 4/4:30 maybe try just allowing a catnap of 20 mins, she’ll be miserable for a little while, any time i’ve had to wake my girl up she cries but is always fine after 10 mins or so of being re-directed to toys etc.

I’m just wondering if your first wake window is less than 2 hours long whether she’s linking that up with her nighttime sleep, or vice versa with the last nap of the day

My baby used to wake up at 4 am!😩
I started to follow 3/3/4 wake windows in the days (google it because I’m Terrible at explaining)

But it has really helped !! She now wake up at 5.30-6am usually .

And as the others said, might be because baby gets too much nap time in the day. I definitely used to let my baby sleep to much and put her to bed to early !

Leaking overnight

My little lady is 4.5 months and has just started sleeping through the night (last 2weeks) she’s in size 2 pampers or size 3 supermarket own as they’re smaller.
I’ve pried pampers, Morrisons, Aldi nappies and through the night she’s leaking. Any recommendations, please?

Second time mums..how?

My almost 4 week old doesn’t go down to sleep until 10:30-11pm, she has a few wakes which is fine, but the last block somehow kill’s me off. Her last wake is around 5:30/6am ish and it seems to take me the longest to settle her back to sleep at this hour and by the time I’ve finished my 3.5 year old is ready to talk my ear off at 7am prompt and ofc needs personal care and breakfast.

I’ve been able to rest as luckily my partner is still on leave, but I am anxiously anticipating his return to work and don’t know how I’ll do it!! 3 days of the week we will have to be out the door to the childminder, but the rest of the 4 he’s home with me😬.

How are we getting through the mornings/days with our eldest whilst sleep deprived?!
Any tips are welcome

3 month routine.

I know routines are hard at this age but does anyone have somewhat of a structure to their day with their LO? I. E when does LO nap and for how long and when do they go to sleep.
My LO is a bad sleeper with multiple wake ups during the night. I’m really deliberating whether it’s because of the naps he’s having during the day. I usually allow him to have one long contact nap in the morning (to make sure he’s not groggy for the rest of the day) his other naps are usually short and I put him down for them. I also like to hold him for his last nap so he’s not overtired and I can put him down for bedtime easier. He falls asleep anywhere between 7-8:30pm depending on how the day has gone.
Any tips / advice would be v helpful!

4 month regression

Checking if your babies who are going through sleep regression also waking up before their usual time in the morning (apart from multiple wakings through the night). My LO used to sleep so well from 9 PM to 9 AM with one tiny feed at around 4/5 am. This bedtime works very well for our family. Now that the regression has hit us hard, she is waking up 3 or 4 times and then finally waking up fully alert and cheery around 7.30 am (1-1.5 hrs earlier than usual). Is this happening with you? Do you fully wake them up and start the day or just ride through this time till they are ready to sleep again? Sorry for the long post!

Play mat suggestions

Does anyone have any suggestions for play mats? I need something spongy and soft to put my baby on so he can play on the floor. He's 4 months old but I want something he can continue to use as he grows. It would also be helpful if it was waterproof or stain resistant as he's got reflux and is sick sometimes
