My 13 month old started nursery 2 months ago and this morning the decision was made for him to take a break as he was getting more and more distressed.
Apparently he became really clingy with the workers to the point they said they had bruises on their legs from him trying to get them to pick them up and also he was get visible frightened when the door kept opening for other drop offs.
Apparently with me narrating what I do all the time so ‘mummy’s just going to the toilet’ has installed in him that he should worry and has extreme separation anxiety because of it.
I feel like I’ve absolutely failed as his mum

I’m sorry but this is absolute rubbish. You didn’t fail him and his separation anxiety is completely normal. Some kids adapt quicker, others (more sensitive babies) take longer or don’t adapt at all (during these very early years I mean, they all adapt eventually!). If anything, his separation anxiety shows he’s securely attached to you. Babies/toddlers who don’t show distress at separation.. those im more concerned about! I’m saying this with passion because it really upsets me when these daycare workers blame the mother for the child’s completely normal distress at being separated from their trusted caregiver. Narrating what you do all the time is actually great, providing reassurance that you’ll be back and has nothing to do with your child being upset at nursery.
I think you might have highly sensitive baby (temperament wise) and taking a break sounds like a great choice if you can do that ❤️ sending love, you’re doing great

You haven’t failed at all, maybe nursery isn’t the right place for him. I tell my kids all the time about what I’m doing, I’m sure a lot of mums do the same.
That’s really poor from the nursery to say that to you. Nursery can be overwhelming for babies, there’s so much going on and new faces to learn, I’d probably put it down to that rather than you narrating your day.
Have you looked into a childminder at all? I tried my first in a nursery and he was so unsettled so I took him out and went to a childminder and he was so much better. My second now goes too and they both love it xx

Ah bless, I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this. It sounds really stressful for you and baby. 😔
I just want to add and echo what the others have said, you’ve not failed as a mum and it’s not your fault.
I can’t believe someone has said that you’ve caused his separation anxiety but saying that? I say it too, I think most do and I believe it gives reassurance instead of just leaving..
My daughter has always been very attached although settled at nursery and my son isn’t at nursery but doesn’t have the same level of separation anxiety as my daughter did (just a bit) and they’ve been raised the same. All children are different.
It’s not your fault!! ❤️
Like above, if you need him in childcare while you work, can you try looking at childminders?
He may settle in a nursery but this doesn’t sound right for him at all.
Hello, recently my daughter who is almost three years old got diagnosed with autism a couple weeks ago. We are still waiting on the summary report from the doctors office to be sent over so I am not sure on the level that she is. I can’t reach out for help either for a few more weeks. She’s been in early intervention for two years and progresses very well. I been grieving the diagnosis and a lot of people can’t understand unless you are the parent going through it yourself. The doctors office wants to see her in 8 months to see how she progressing in pre k. I see a lot of people saying it’s Nero and you can’t grow out of it but my doctor said she misdiagnoses all the time and they have to put it in writing so it doesn’t come back on them. She thinks since my daughter is at a young age that is plenty of time for growth & progress and I just wanna get all of the help I need but it’s hard because I don’t know what I’m doing and this is all knew to me. (She was flagged for social skills and speech delay-also sounding out her words correctly) Any suggestions and support would be appreciated 🤍 this is Kinsley Elaine she’ll be 3 December 23rd and she LOVES baby shark finger puppets

Me and my partner live with his mom and his little sister who both always get ill around the end of october and im due on halloween with my first. His little sister does not cover her mouth when coughing or sneezing and his mom is demanding first cuddles with our baby boy when he comes home after being born however she gets ill faster then anyone else in the house and stays ill the longest and his little sister has a habit of walking around the house with ger phone on full volume screaming and shouting when playing games with her friends whilst only being 8. I dont want her waking up the baby when he is down for a nap and she has the worst attitude and my partners mom doesnt do anything about her screaming or when she has attitude so me or my partner ask her to quiet down and have explained that when the baby is here she can not be going round the house screaming and shouting yet she is still screaming at full volume and refuses to do as she is told by me my partner or their mom. What advice does people have for me about protecting my baby from illness and what can i do about my partners sister screaming and potentially waking the baby once he is born. Also my partners mom has already said that people will be coming over and they will all want to see the baby but me and my partner dont want him passed around like a parcel. Any advice for that will be great.

Does anyone ever struggle with their husband/partner not being present in the moment? My husband is great, he cooks, he cleans, he changes their diapers, he takes care of us. But sometimes, when the kids are doing something for the first time, he's not present. Like today, for example. My son is almost 3 and my daughter is 2 months old. My husband just got back from the gym and my daughter was doing tummy time, and her big bro was copying her and they were having a cute moment together. So I told him to go look at how cute they were! He was on his phone, on instagram or tiktok or whatever. He looks over for a second, smiles and goes back to his phone. I told him to look! And he looks again for a second and that was it. I got so mad cuz I was like why can't you just be in the moment and look at them enjoying a sweet moment together. He said he saw and I was like yeah, for a freaking second. Idk. It got me hella mad. Sorry for rambling. Anyone else feel this?

For context we have a 7 month old and have been together for almost three years I only ask because I ask myself every single day what I should do whether that means breaking up or staying together like this man just every day pisses me off, pisses me off like he makes life a living hell sometimes and I try to see through the bad and look for the good, but I don’t know if I should be doing that you know?
Let me know how you handle seeing the good over the bad cause i know there is more good than bad but GOD DAMN he is annoying.

4. I said he couldn’t eat the baby wipe
3. I wouldn’t let him unbuckle his car seat while we were driving
2. I got screamed at for now letting him dump an entire cup of water on the floor out of the bathtub
1. I got growled at for saying no he can’t have a 3rd package of fruit snacks before dinner 😂
Please tell me your top 5 in the comments

I’m trying just to give baby what we’re having and I’m cooking a chicken curry. He will obviously not be having much of the sauce but is it ok to use these paste pots? I hate bland food and so does my toddler so I’m really struggling with it all but don’t have the time to be making separate meals this time around. Hope it’s not a stupid question, thanks!
