Hello, recently my daughter who is almost three years old got diagnosed with autism a couple weeks ago. We are still waiting on the summary report from the doctors office to be sent over so I am not sure on the level that she is. I can’t reach out for help either for a few more weeks. She’s been in early intervention for two years and progresses very well. I been grieving the diagnosis and a lot of people can’t understand unless you are the parent going through it yourself. The doctors office wants to see her in 8 months to see how she progressing in pre k. I see a lot of people saying it’s Nero and you can’t grow out of it but my doctor said she misdiagnoses all the time and they have to put it in writing so it doesn’t come back on them. She thinks since my daughter is at a young age that is plenty of time for growth & progress and I just wanna get all of the help I need but it’s hard because I don’t know what I’m doing and this is all knew to me. (She was flagged for social skills and speech delay-also sounding out her words correctly) Any suggestions and support would be appreciated 🤍 this is Kinsley Elaine she’ll be 3 December 23rd and she LOVES baby shark finger puppets

My son was recently diagnosed for autism but we don’t know the level quite yet. And he’s 2 years old going to be 3 in February. It is for sure so much information and also going to his appointments are so much we learn!

My daughter was dx with ASD at 2.5 and it was primarily for social and speech delays. She's a level 2. She's been in speech, ot, ABA, and has an IEP. She's in kindergarden. The difference in her speech from her peers didn't seem so large at 3 but now that she's in kindergarten we can see the gap much clearer even though she is very much progressing.
What we were told was that during the process pruning process where the brain gets rid of things infants no longer need like the morrow reflex. In kids with ASD it goes to far and destroys more than it should which is why like with our daughter sometimes it may seem like a child between 18/24 months is going backwards. At 15 months our girl could name all her body parts and asked for chocolate... then she stopped answering questions and words got clipped like choco. A year later and we had the Autism level 2dx. Well they said therapy in kids under the age of 6 can possibly reignight some of those neuropathways, not cure but help recreate.

The brain develops the way that it develops. Nothing you can do about it.
But, as an Autistic adult myself, it is very well possible for an Autistic child to grow up and have a meaningful life.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I would call the elementary and see if you can start the registration process. I got my son in school when he turned 3. It took a couple of months to get him registered. He was in school for half a year last school year and he went from barely any words to being a parrot. The school will do their own evaluation and if she doesn’t meet the criteria for going to school a full day, maybe she can get speech for free there, you would just need to take her, like any other type of appointment.
Maybe the doctor misdiagnosed, maybe not. You just move forward and advocate; which it seems like you are.

That's just what the pediatric neurologist told us. (She also had seziures that's why the neuro specialist)
I will say she's been in a lot of therapy since her dx and we have seen some pretty huge changes.
She told me "I love you mommy" unpromted and unprevoked for the first time about a month ago. I cried all night.
We were told of she continues with her current process they may re-evaluate her lv 1 but that the chances she is ever removed from the spectrum is slim.
So every kiddo is different but i will say therapy has literally changed her life for the better.

My son was diagnosed at age 3. His diagnosis was autism level 2. He had a speech delay, ODD and ADHD. He was in daycare since he was 11 months but around 3 is when shit hit the fan. He almost got kicked out of daycare. He was so misunderstood by his teachers. We did speech therapy for years and we saw little to no progress. Until we put him in prek in a special ed class. He is flourishing. He changed so so much. He will be 5 in december and he is a changed boy. He is finally potty trained. His speech improved A LOT. He is way more social. He orders his own meal at restaurants. He talks to people on his own compared to before when he used to avoid all social interractions. When he got diagnosed, they told us there is a chance for him to go to autism level 1 if we work with him.

So Autism is Genetic. A recent research publication has confirmed this.
There is no growing out of Autism, an autistic individual's brain is physically, Neurologically different and therefore interprets, processes and sees information differently.
I so badly wish I had received a diagnosis as a child and not at the age of 35.
My son will have Autistic attributes, I've already seen it play out and he is only 2. He will be Autistic, because I am Autistic.
Autism is a different way of being and understanding our world. It can be intimidating if it's not something you know a lot about but I promise, there is nothing your child can't achieve because they are Autistic, they may just get there a different way than you would had thought.

Don’t let the level stress you. A lot of doctors are making the level more severe to make it so insurance will approve services. It’s all an insurance game now
Does anyone ever struggle with their husband/partner not being present in the moment? My husband is great, he cooks, he cleans, he changes their diapers, he takes care of us. But sometimes, when the kids are doing something for the first time, he's not present. Like today, for example. My son is almost 3 and my daughter is 2 months old. My husband just got back from the gym and my daughter was doing tummy time, and her big bro was copying her and they were having a cute moment together. So I told him to go look at how cute they were! He was on his phone, on instagram or tiktok or whatever. He looks over for a second, smiles and goes back to his phone. I told him to look! And he looks again for a second and that was it. I got so mad cuz I was like why can't you just be in the moment and look at them enjoying a sweet moment together. He said he saw and I was like yeah, for a freaking second. Idk. It got me hella mad. Sorry for rambling. Anyone else feel this?

Me and my partner live with his mom and his little sister who both always get ill around the end of october and im due on halloween with my first. His little sister does not cover her mouth when coughing or sneezing and his mom is demanding first cuddles with our baby boy when he comes home after being born however she gets ill faster then anyone else in the house and stays ill the longest and his little sister has a habit of walking around the house with ger phone on full volume screaming and shouting when playing games with her friends whilst only being 8. I dont want her waking up the baby when he is down for a nap and she has the worst attitude and my partners mom doesnt do anything about her screaming or when she has attitude so me or my partner ask her to quiet down and have explained that when the baby is here she can not be going round the house screaming and shouting yet she is still screaming at full volume and refuses to do as she is told by me my partner or their mom. What advice does people have for me about protecting my baby from illness and what can i do about my partners sister screaming and potentially waking the baby once he is born. Also my partners mom has already said that people will be coming over and they will all want to see the baby but me and my partner dont want him passed around like a parcel. Any advice for that will be great.

For context we have a 7 month old and have been together for almost three years I only ask because I ask myself every single day what I should do whether that means breaking up or staying together like this man just every day pisses me off, pisses me off like he makes life a living hell sometimes and I try to see through the bad and look for the good, but I don’t know if I should be doing that you know?
Let me know how you handle seeing the good over the bad cause i know there is more good than bad but GOD DAMN he is annoying.

My baby is currently 6 months old, and I’m already thinking about going back to work when he’s around 12 months.
Honestly, I don’t really want to leave him at nursery this young, but I also want to continue building my career.
For mums who started nursery around 1 year old — how did you find it? Did you feel like it affected your bond with your baby, or did you both adjust okay?

Have taken Eva to the pharmacist, A&E and the GP. They all said the external one is impetigo which I agree with. For her tongue (it looked a bit different yesterday and the day before when they saw it) one said dehydration and one said thrush. Chatgpt now says Gingivostomatitis? She can’t eat anything from the pain and antibiotics and thrush medication haven’t helped. Taking her again to the GP in a few hours. 🙁
