After a bit of advice. My son has been at a childminders since September last year. I'm finding her to be increasing unreliable, so far this year she's had 4 days closed and multiple times when I drop him off she informs me I need to collect him early, sometimes 2 hours early.
This is losing me money as I have a job that I can then not go to, as it's too short notice to arrange alternative childcare.
I've not had a childminder before, so I'm unsure if this is the norm?

Hi, that seems soo stressful! this is my first time using childminder aswell but unless it’s an emergency they tell us about closure way ahead of time! Like the other day she told us about a closure in June. I think consider finding another one as there are really good ones out there! Best of luck! Xxx

Nightmare this is why I picked a nursery instead with lots of staff so I dont have to take holidays when the childminder is away and if they are ill etc and only closure is bank holidays/christmas. Less stress for me with work

Definitely not normal. We have had the same childminder for 3 years and she has been closed for 4 days in total over that time (apart from planned annual closures), each time for two days because she was giving birth! She has childcare assistants to support her when she cannot work.
