Contraceptive

Hi looking for advice on what people think is the best form of contraception

I had the pill which I fell pregnant on, the injection which I bled non stop on, the coil which I thought was good until it came out on its own.

I know I don’t want anymore children my little boy is definitely enough.

Also has anyone’s partner had the snip seeking advice on this too as I’ve asked my partner to do it, he didn’t seem very keen😂

I was on the mini pill for years and had little to no issues, but found it messed with my moods massively the first 6 months or so after having my kids.
I also had the hormonal coil for 2 years, loved it for the first 18 months, absolutely hated it for the next 6 months, so had it removed.
I've opted for the copper coil this time. Had it fitted in January, and am actually liking it. The change in me from when I was on hormonal contraception to now is amazing, I honestly didn't realise how much the added hormones were impacting me.

My husband is also not keen on getting the snip 😂 I've been referred to be sterilised, which was my choice. We're done having kids, and this is the option I feel is best

I completely get you. The thought of getting pregnant now also stresses me out, we have 2 and are definitely done. I'd maybe consider giving the coil another chance. I had quite a traumatic birth with my first, hence the 5 year age gap. You're feelings are completely valid!

The snip is so quick and convenient, and recovery is easy too. I just think some men are not keen on the idea at all 😂 I'm 30 now, so I'm hoping they will agree to sterilise me.

I worked great on the patch! Honestly the best contraceptive I’ve tried!

The pill was no good, gave me loads of issues, and the mirena coil just messed up my periods and moods!

I tried the patch and it’s been great for me. You make it work for you sort of thing. Change it weekly and the 4th week you’ll be patch free and then have your period! So you know exactly when period is coming and can even delay if you need to by just putting on another patch.

I think it just takes time. I knew I wanted 2. I also had an elective C-section and knew that that was what I wanted and needed. It was such a good experience and somewhat healing.

Have you looked at the lowdown website? It's a good way to see all the contraceptive options and people have reviewed them ect. I spent ages researching on it before deciding what to go on.

Struggling

I’m sorry for the sad post but I’m honestly struggling so much and I feel so alone. I’ve tried to explain how I feel to my husband and mum but they don’t seem to get it. I have a 13 month old and I’m 4 months pregnant. I’m tired all the time, not happy in my marriage, put on so much weight and have absolutely no desire to do things. I’ve tried looking for a counsellor to talk to and just on the waitlist but I need to know it gets better. I feel like I’m stuck in a dark hole just pretending I’m okay to everyone my friends and family and work colleagues but I’m really really not.

Loneliness

Hi, I’m struggling with feeling quite lonely in pregnancy. I only have a handful of friends. 2 of them are pregnant which is quite nice, but I don’t really see the others. I’ve just joined a pregnancy Pilates group but I feel people keep to themselves. Does anyone have any ideas how I can connect with others and make like minded friends? I’m 15 weeks pregnant and live in Kent (UK). Xx

Am I overreacting?

To give some background, my partner used to use cocaine when he used to go out before I had a baby, it didn’t bother me, just let him get on with it. When it was getting close to baby being born I set a boundary and said that I did not want him doing that anymore when baby is here, he has responsibilities and a child to come home to. He promised me that he wouldn’t and for the first 4 months I am confident he didn’t.

He was out on Saturday and I knew immediately that he had, and he came home wanting to look after baby. I asked him and he denied it but I still wouldn’t let him anywhere near her.

On Sunday I barely spoke to him, and then asked him again on the night and he continued to deny it, in the end I asked him to swear on our baby that he hasn’t at which point he finally admitted it but didn’t seem sorry about it or bothered about it at all.

I feel like I’m struggling to get past this and that he would come home coked up and want to look after our baby but I don’t know if I am overreacting and I would rather be told straight up if I am!
