What should/can my 10 month old be eating/eat/drink? So far the only thing he's ever taken an interest in is mashed potatoes, & strawberry yogurt, but I don't give him alot of strawberry yogurt cause it's made with real milk so idk if that's bad for him right now! I heard scrambled eggs & soft toast, soft pasta but that scares me to try with him because it seems like every time he tries something he makes this face while squinting his eyes, shaking his head no, & act like he's gagging a second & it scares me but idk if it's cause he's choking or he just doesnt like it? When can he start using water & actual milk? When can he use a sippy cup? I have a 5yr old & 14yr old but I feel like my memory is so bad I've forgotten everything!

Hi! I started practicing with a sippy cup at 8 months I believe. He drinks water and juice (sugar free) from it. I’ve tried pretty much everything except for nuts. I’ve made veggie pasta which he loves. You can mash it up a little depending on how many teeth he has. Try making a combo of potatoes and chicken. I hope this helps!

Definitely check with his pediatrician, but for reference, choking is silent. Babies are still trying to learn to chew and to swallow food so gagging noises are kinda normal. I was scared to give my son anything besides purées too but they have to learn how to properly eat. If you’re nervous, progress to chunkier purées and then keep going in terms of more solid/chunky food.

I would recommend giving him juicy juice with water to help him get used to water and giving him a sippy cup at 13 months just to start introducing it and they have baby yogurts also giving him a chicken bone helps with teething giving him green beans but take the string and cabbage

My boys also 10 months honestly I give him a plate of whatever we’re having just cut up he acts the same way at first but that’s just him being surprised with new flavors/texture and needs a second to get used to it but will then love it like for meats I cut them into strips so he can grab them and eat them himself macn cheese is also good, they can have water at 6 months I normally put his water ( or very watered down juice) in a sippy the prefers ones with straws and the real milk is when there a year old but I do give my son some dairy products like Mac n cheese

Feeding Littles is a really good Instagram account for this. So is the Solid Starts app because it shows if/when babies can have certain foods and how it cut it if they do have it.
I know our pediatrician said absolutely no juice, limited sugar and salt, wait on drinking cow's milk til one (other than dairy products like cheese and yogurt). But otherwise, my 10 month old eats essentially what the rest of the family eats. She and her older (4 year old) sister split a meal of edamame with veggie yakisoba noodles from the local teriyaki place last night and washed it down with water in a straw cup. If they are eating solids they should be drinking water.

My baby loves sweet potato, carrots and apple steamed and mashed all together. And mango and broccoli mix as well as beets and apples steamed and smashed. But lentils are her favorite by far I guess. I don’t give her yogurt until she turns one and chicken as well. Other than that she loves all the veggie stuff and tofu
