Hiya,
I was feeling v rundown & tired for some time & had bloods taken back in January & was diagnosed with anaemia & given tablets. I don’t feel like they helped at all & they were just for 3 months & feel as tired/run down as ever.
At the time, it came up in conversation with my Mum that I was having irregular periods (I have a tracker app & consistently for well over a year). What once lasted 5 days max & came every 28 days was now 10 days max & every 19 days…..The Doctor did ask about periods but seemed more concerned if if they were heavy or sore.
Flash forward 3 months & I call up re medication to stop periods on holiday & just mentioned the irregularity again & the (male this time) Doctor books me in for hormonal imbalance blood tests. I’ve been Googling & they can be for thyroid issues (which the bloods in Jan also covered), infertility (👶🏼👶🏼), PCOS (no) or pre/peri menopause (Doc already counted it out as too young).
I’m just curious if anyone else has had these kinds of tests & what came of it?

Jw if you got really sick before you started feeling this way?? Maybe covid?
I know two friends who had the same feeling of absolute FATIGUE suddenly pop up and it took a while but they ended up having autoimmune diseases that popped up as a long-covid symptom.
Not saying it is, just giving an idea for what happened to my friends.
My mom also said perimenopause started for her around 36 so maybe that could be the culprit.
Don’t give up! I know you’re already too tired to feel like you can do anything more than you are, but it’s so worth it when you find answers and help🤍
I have narcolepsy so I GET being absolutely soul crunching exhausted chronically and it’s not easy at all, especially dealing with everyone else’s judgements about how much you are/are not doing. F that! You’re doing the best you can, anyone who judges you can eat dirt😬😉 good luck mama!
Thank you 🥰I had CV19 when it first came out & only lost taste & smell, no other symptoms, haha. I don’t usually get sick, I don’t FEEL sick now either. Just v v tired, lol. I can rally tho. Just coupled with the periods & now the Doc saying hormone imbalance has gave me fear.

Did they run a regular CBC or do testing for iron saturation, total iron binding capacity, IG #?
I had to get to a hematologist who finally determined I needed iron infusions. I have fibromyalgia (rheumatologist) and when my CBC looks good I'll still test low for iron saturation. So I have enough platelets and rbc but they are carrying at like 5% capacity which makes me feel those ways. When it got to 2% I had anxiety because I was literally dying. I'd rule out that line and proceed with rheumatology to be sure you don't have any chronic issues.

Perimenopause can start years before menopause so it could be the start as irregular periods and fatigue are symptoms. It can often start in your 30's so they shouldn't just rule it out based on age.
It's good they are testing you for hormonal imbalances though, as they often don't. I'm having similar blood tests tomorrow, as I've been absolutely wiped since pregnancy even though my LG sleeps 11 hours at night now.
