When did your baby start sleeping through the night?

My baby is 7 weeks old. It’s early for him to sleep through the night yet but I was curious to know what you’ve experienced.

And did you do anything special to make that happen?

My twins are 13 months and they still don’t sleep through the night

Mine has only slept through the night on special occasions. They seem to coincide with new skills being learned 🤣

My step kid started sleeping comfortably and completely through the night by 5 in her own bedroom. But co-sleeping with us until 4 and was sleeping through the night at 2 (when I moved in so I’m not sure how well she was sleeping through the night before then because I did not sleep over when she was there before we reached our 1 year mark of being serious together).
So we went through a regression when we decided to break the co-sleeping.

I said 3-6 months because after 6th month regression she stopped and I miss that 😭

The trick is finding the balance over time between providing enough support to keep them from getting dysregulated, but also giving them opportunities to calm themselves. That line is different for every child and a lot of it depends on temperment.

The Swedish call this "I magen - ice in the veins." Which basically means calming yourself and resisting the urge to jump to assist the moment they stir, giving them a few minutes to settle before intervening, and using as little intervention as possible when you do have to.

Also worth noting that sleep is not linear - it will get better, then worse, then better again. There is no "moment" when it's over - some weeks are good, others are bad. When you think you're out of the water something else comes up. You just roll with it and remember that this too will pass.

My daughter is 19 months old and she barely started sleeping through the night she still will kinda wake up here and there

It's normal for babies to wake thought the night until 2/3 years tbh

My daughter is 9 weeks old and has been sleeping through the night since 4 weeks old. By sleeping through the night i mean 6-7hrs at a time.

My lo started at 5 weeks, we were getting 13 hours straight. But with the regressions in the first year it didn’t last forever, had a great run though.

Still waiting for my baby who’s now 3 years old to sleep through the night 😂

13 months and still waking 1-2 times a night x

My daughter was around 3 years old before she started sleeping through at all, then maybe 4+ before it was anything like consistent. All very normal. It helps to have realistic expectations.

All my babies slept in the bed with me, and they fell asleep according to my rhythm after a few months

Still never has, he is 16months

Hang in there! These year fly and everything is a phase! You might get lucky and have an early sleeper or you might be like me rocking 1-2yr olds to sleep 🥹

17months in- still not sleeping through the night :(

2 and a half years for my first and my second is 13 months currently and nowhere near sleeping through 😴

How long did baby sleep in your room?

My little one is only just 4 months but is rolling and already pretty much grown out of his next to me crib in size! I am an anxious mum and a stickler for following safety guidelines so we are going to dismantle and rebuild his big cot in our bedroom. Obviously that's a big of a faff for just 2 months but the more I think about it the more I can't even think about him moving into his own bedroom anytime soon... It feels so wrong to me to just stick my infant in his own bedroom? 😂 But obviously I know it needs to happen at some point so I'm just curious to see when other parents did the transition whether earlier or later?

Naps at nursery

My little boy will be 10 months old when he starts nursery, he currently needs holding/cuddling to fall asleep then I can place him down in his cot to nap once’s he’s fell asleep. He won’t settle on his own it just results in him screaming crying. But I’m worried about when he starts nursery, will the staff there do the same at nap time or will he expected to self settle himself to sleep?

Why no trigger warning???

Why are people posting pics of blood abd mucus plugs without the sensitive content warning??? Not everyone has the stomach to see that, there's first time moms on here who don't need to see it like have some consideration for others??

Is this normal?

My 3.5yo son is normally very loud when he's in a park, soft play, family friendly holidays. Sometimes a bit too loud and doesn't understand some kids aren't reciprocating it. But I received his nursery report today and they say he's shy and likes to play alone. So I don't get it. He does in 2 days a week. Is this normal?

Night time

Hey moms I’m a new momma my daughter is 3 days old she’s cried most all night she’s been a great behaved baby but at night she cries and cries she’s been fed clean diaper I try to sooth her and I feel just mentally exhausted any advice on newborns who cry at night and tips for feeling overwhelmed being a new mom

Vaccinations

My boy has his first round of vaccinations today. How did people prep for it? Some HV & docs say to give calpol 30 mins before the appointment but some say don’t….. what did you do?
