I've already done it once this pregnancy as a fasting blood test only but today I had a growth scan and in the last 4 weeks baby has gone from 44th to 76th centile and I have slightly increased fluid. They want me to repeat the GTT, however it's not booked until next Thursday by which point I'll be 38 weeks. I'm already down for an elective c-section so by the time they get the results and put anything into place I'll be near enough having the baby anyway. I just don't see why they're bothering this close? Like if it was a major concern surely they'd fit me in rather than let another whole week go by when I'm already at the end of pregnancy.
I'm going to call and ask them tomorrow to confirm if it's necessary and explain why. Happy to do it if they've got an actual reason rather than just because it's the done thing in this scenario but otherwise it's just a bit of a nuisance for everyone.

Polyhydramnios (too much fluid) and a big baby can indicate GD so that’ll be why they’re suggesting it.
I had to repeat at 36 weeks and passed again. You can refuse it if you don’t want it x

This has basically happened to me and instead of doing the regular test they put me straight on to taking my blood sugars three times a day. After two high readings they automatically told me it was GD and I adjusted my diet so this past week it’s all been normal.
The reason they wanted to do it even though it’s so close (I’m literally being induced on Saturday for something separate) was because they need to know if it is GD as it helps them take care of baby when they are born and they will have things at the ready if the baby has low blood sugar or anything!

The only thing it will change is if it is positive, then they will want to take babies blood sugar after birth.

I had high glucose in my urine when they tested it last. I had my fasting bloods done to check today and I'm scheduled for induction on Monday. They just said if I have it they'll being induction forward. Im 39+3 today. How far along will you be when you have c section?
Thanks ladies, I'd forgotten that it might impact what care baby needs post birth! My brain wouldn't let me see past the fact that it was so close I wouldn't have chance to change anything anyway, but it actually is still important
