I had my little ones review today and left feeling very deflated. Wondered if anyone else felt like this? I know everyone and every baby is completely different
So my little one is breastfed and they have told me to stop. That she should be getting all her nutrients from her food and to give her cows milk instead. To also cut out night feeds and offer water instead. (I know night feeds have to stop and I have to stop feeding eventually) but it all seems so abrupt! I thought breastfeeding was encouraged till 2…
She’s never been the best eater and likes to graze. They’ve told me to cut out all snacks and it just feels like I’m then going to let her be hungry… I follow nursery times of breakfast snack lunch snack when we’re home so I’m unsure
Don’t really know what the point of this post is but I just felt so deflated for the rest of the day🥲

Breastfeed as long as you want not up to anyone else you stop when it’s the right time for you! It’s wrong that anyone should tell you to stop and they are still getting nutrients and antibodies from the breast milk my little one is BF and still has night feeds x

Take what they say with a pinch of salt, they're constantly contradicting themselves and all have different opinions so never get consistent advice.
Mine told me to breastfeed as long as I like so who's right?

Wow, I can't believe that! I'm not surprised you're feeling deflated. If you want to continue breastfeeding, 100% do. It's still beneficial and totally your choice. Agree with the above comment too, you hear so many different opinions and some of them are honestly quite alarming! Also I think general guidance is 3 meals and 2 snacks as a guide, but every baby is so different - some need snacks, some don't, and some just prefer to graze. At the end of the day, you know your baby best, so trust your mum instinct!

Unfortunately some HV are still running on very old advice, and also seem to lack the sensitivity a healthcare professional who's supposed to support mums and young children should have. WHO recommends breastfeeding at least until they're 2 - I trust them more than some random HV who might not have done CPL in the last 20 years.
And about snacks, if they recommend 5 meals for a healthy diet, why would you have a little person with a little stomach go without food for hours? Doesn't make any sense. Only thing with snacks is to make sure they're healthy, not too filling and not too close to the main meal times, but other than that, I would completely ignore everything they say.
