SLEEP TRAINING - this is a last resort! I don’t know what to do anymore!!!!!!

This is my third child.
I have never ‘agreed’ with sleeping training because I hate my children crying and want them to know that I will always be there to comfort them.

But I didn’t need to with my older two.

My 3rd baby is now 10 months and cannot be put down. She cries every single time and stops as soon as I pick her up.

I cannot be holding her constantly. I need rest too. My partner and I need time together, even if it is limited.

What can I do? What is sleep training? How does it work? What do I do?

PLEASE HELP

We did a modified method of Ferber; very shortened intervals. We would go in and rub their backs, I would sing quietly, caress their cheeks. We initially did it with my first as I was still a working mother operating on zero sleep. Worked amazing for my first, worked in 2 nights. Did it with my second child and she was sleeping great after 3 nights.

I’m also very anti-sleep training for so many reasons, but we needed to make sleep more consistent for our current needs. I found this lady who is very gentle and baby-led in how she teaches sleep, very science based. I’m just starting it but love it so far, and she has so many good reviews! Might be worth checking out. She has a book as well.

I used a gentle ferber sleep method and it’s honestly saved me, i’m a single parent so it’s always on me to do bedtimes and it started to become exhausting we co slept for the first year of his life he’s now 19 months and takes himself off to sleep every night and sleeps through i’m much happier and so is he. It takes patience he did cry the first couple of times but it is so worth it in my opinion i get hours of me time before bed🙂

We have just done some habit stacking, been very gradual and gentle and we’ve never left her alone, while there have been some tears she’s generally been pretty ok with it and always known were there. She was a wake every 40mins-1 hour since the regression kind of baby and now wakes once or twice for a feed. No regrets as we’re all much better rested for it, including her, but also have never left her alone to cry or not be comforted as her attachment and happiness was a priority for us over the sleep too

Reading some of the suggestions mine would climb on top of me or try to! I did lie down and wait for her to fall asleep but she got crafty and wanted me against the wall and would pin me in by clutching the butterfly on my bra. No suggestions but she was a nightmare. Health visitor suggested putting a stairgate on her bedroom door although this was when she was slightly older.

I am against sleep training bc her cries mess with me mentally. So I hold her till ik she is sleep sleep then I slowly put her in her crib. She usually sleeps about 8-10 hrs and wake up 1x through the night

I did the “wave” method with 5 minute intervals. You only let them cry 5 minutes at a time but if they cry for 2 minutes and stop and then start again, then the 5 minute clock starts over. So no more than 5 minutes of continuous crying. Good luck!

Just cosleep.

If you sleep train, you're just teaching her that you won't be there when she needs you. It doesn't stop her needing you.

Co sleeping helped me loads but I know that isnt for everyone. There are some real gentle sleep training methods out there though that could potentially help. Even putting them down but staying with them to rub their back and talk to them etc if they are crying is hugely different from leaving them to cry, they know you are there and comforting them so their cortisol levels drop down where as when left the levels raise and stay raised because of stress. Still hard hearing them cry and I couldn't personally do it but as I said co sleeping worked for me luckily so I didnt have to. I'd start by researching gentle no cry methods though and choose what feels right for you, it will be a slow process unlike CIO because they quickly learn no help is coming and stay stressed but stop crying, doing it gently will slow it but teach them comfort is there when needed

Stepkids (12F, 17M) hating the new pregnancy.. how to handle?

Hey everyone, looking for advice on navigating some tough stepfamily dynamics.

My partner and I have been together for a while. There was a lot of drama with his ex at the beginning, so the kids didn't like me initially. I get why the transition was hard, but we're running into a wall now that I gave birth.

The 12-year-old daughter has been super moody and upset about the pregnancy, especially stressing over whether it's a girl (we waited till I gave birth to find out the gender). On a recent FaceTime (which included the ex and the 17yo son), she literally sat in the background the whole time texting, ignoring us completely.

It really unsettled me especially the thought of her resentment if I had a daughter. I gave birth to a baby boy but still.

How do you guys handle stepkids who are openly resentful about a new baby, and how do you set boundaries with FaceTime calls when the ex is involved? Any advice is appreciated!

Sudden mama only phase

My LO is 9 weeks, since last week he suddenly only wants me. He used to take a bottle ebm from my husband and be soothed by my dad/brother — now he refuses both and only calms when I hold him. Contact naps only, cries when put down.

Don’t get me wrong , i love him so much but sometimes need to step away 🥲😥 my back is killing me from holding him all day and sometimes I just need to function.— and right now I can't, because he won't settle for anyone else. My husband used to offer one bottle of ebm per day so that i can get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep but now that’s also impossible

Is this a phase? Will appreciate any tips

Looking for support

Last night was one of the most frightening and emotionally overwhelming nights I’ve experienced in a long time, and I’m honestly not sure what to do.

Taking baby shopping

I feel absolutely insane but I'm nervous to take my almost 4 month old out shopping with me lol. I was hoping he'd be able to sit in the cart so I don't have to bring in the car seat. Should I just put him in a baby wearing carrier? Why do I feel like I'm making a bigger deal out of this than it should be 😂

Maternity Bras - big boobs!

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for maternity bras for big boobs. Not necessarily needing breastfeeding friendly, but something comfortable and soft with support.

I am 9 weeks pregnant and my boobs already are spilling out of my current bras and they are soooo heavy and sore.

I'm a 36G normally but will need to go up 🙃 (genuinely thought they couldn't get any bigger 😂😂)
