Baby breathing

Guys is this breathing normal for a newborn baby? I’m a new mom and have no idea what I’m doing. I’m an over thinker. idk if this breathing is normal or not. I have no idea who I would call to ask for advise. She also is a bit blue around the eyes and mouth

The dummy looks a little bit big for his face (could just be the angle). We used MAM 0-2 and haven’t had issues. It’ll just stop the covering over the nostril on the video.

My boy was breathing like this but he’s had constant breathing issues🫠 we think he was born with small nasal passages so might be the same thing?

What kind of labour did you have? Vaginal or c-section? Some babies struggle to clear mucus depending on the kind of birth so they might just need some saline spray. We use Sterimar (can get from chemist, Amazon, boots etc).

If you are worried though speak with your health visitor or community midwive. They’ll be able to advise best 🩷

Red flags to look out for are chest retractions and flaring nostrils with each breath. Obvs can’t see her chest in the video but her nasal breathing seems fine and not strained. If you are worried call 111 for advice. I can’t see any blue around her lips in the video but if you think you can see blue then again, call 111 and ask advice.
Newborns are LOUD and make all sorts of odd noises. I took my LG to A&E at under a week old because I thought her breathing was weird…turns out she was just making normal baby noises 😅
Look up floppy larynx as lots of newborns have this and can making breathing sound strange.
I’m not a medial professional though so please trust your gut and if you are worried call 111 or take her to the GP ❤️
I’m also an anxious mum so completely understand how you’re feeling!

C-section mums

Since April is Cesarean Section Awareness Month, I feel like I just need to get this off of my chest.

I had an emergency c-section 5 months ago and I'm still in pain. My stitches look dry and healing okay from the outside but internally I feel like something is ripping. I wouldn't say it's painful but it sure feels uncomfortable especially when I'm moving or walking or getting up from bed or the couch.

I'm proud of other mums who had a good recovery. I admire your strength. Some would even say they feel normal after 6-8 weeks. I wonder why I don't. Is it because as a SAHM I don't really get a rest? Because I have to show up 24/7 even if I could barely stand from backpain or my stitches sting.

I know comparison is the thief of joy but I just can't help feeling sorry for myself for going through this especially during this time that I'm going through ppd and health anxiety. What if my stitches are actually ripping internally? But I just had my gp appointment and my stitches look okay and to just take paracetamol for the pain, that as long as I don't have any fever or bleeding I'm okay. I want to have an ultrasound scan just for my peace of mind but they don't simply give you that, do they? Anyone else felt the same but nothing's concerning? It's only that we have a slow recovery. I hope this is the case.

Pain & not feeling well

I’m 22 weeks and over the past few months I’ve not been able to sleep properly and when I do fall asleep I’m only getting 4 hours or less of sleep as my toddler gets up early!
I’ve had constant belly pains that feel like bad period pains! The maternity unit has said it sounds like round ligament pain (it was never this bad with my first).
Now i feel so sick, i have completely lost my appetite (I haven’t put weight on since my booking appointment) , I keep going lightheaded when I stand up, my lower back is killing me and I feel exhausted! I also have re occurring thrush/ thrush symptoms!
Does this sound normal?? I know pregnancy isn’t easy but it wasn’t this bad with my first…

39 weeks fed up now

Hi I think I just need someone to talk to, feel extremely fed up now waiting and uncomfortable. My mood and mental health has been good throughout my pregnancy but these past 2 weeks have been anxious/hormonal and upset.

What to do the night before a c-section

My planned c-section is in 6 days! I am so nervous. I’ve had an emergency c-section with my first baby, so there is some trauma associated with giving birth for me. I’m excited to meet my baby more than anything though.

What should I do the night before my c-section? I know you are not supposed to eat for 8 hours prior. What kind of meal should I eat? I was thinking tofu rice bowl with avocado.

I’m going to do a full shower the night before and then a body rinse the morning of. Did you do your hair? I read no hair products? What day should I shave this coming week? I read you shouldn’t do it the night before.

I have an OB apt on Friday, so I know I can ask these things then, but I’m just feeling anxious to plan.
