MIL is Ms Rachel on steroids!

Background: MIL and I were close, but as soon as my son was born, she became obsessed. She constantly buys him things we don’t need or want, and constantly narrates what he’s doing in a shrill, loud voice. She’s fake cried super loud more than once bc she thinks that’s how you’re supposed to teach them emotion. She now seems incapable of adult conversation. There’s some safety issues too and I don’t feel fully comfortable leaving him with her, and definitely not with her driving him anywhere. She tries to take over and do things that are special to us to do for the first time, i.e.-swimming, dyeing eggs for Easter, etc. Anyone else have similar issues?!

Can't relate, sorry. But MIL lives miles away, that could be a solution.

How often is your baby waking up in the night?

My baby is 5 months old and waking up every 3 hours. Some nights he could do a 4 hour stretch and some he would do just 2. It’s a bit all over the place to be honest. Is it normal for so many wake ups at this age? What is everyone else’s baby doing?

How do you cosleep?

I know all about sleep safe 7, the dangers of cosleeping etc etc, but there seems to be a huge difference between online and people I meet in real life. Most people I know report cosleeping, but online its villainised more.
No judgement here - I'm just genuinely curious what people are actually doing!

Comments if its something different.

Our baby has her own cot. She sleeps well in it until early morning and then only sleeps if shes on/next to me. I'll also admit to having fallen asleep breastfeeding several times (no lectures, she's safe - but other people have said they've done the same).

Sleep regression starting???

LO is nearly 16 weeks, last four days have consisted in him waking more in the night and thumping his legs like a whale 🫩 I’ve checked if he has wind and he doesn’t! But enjoys slamming his legs

He was sleeping 6/7 hr stretches but it’s now he’s waking nearly 2-3 hours so do his little leg ritual 🫩🤣

Stroke symptoms scare. Anyone recommend a Doppler monitor that actually works?

Recently I had a bit of a scare where I had stroke symptoms and ended up in hospital A& E waiting for 9 hours to be seen without anyone checking the baby was ok. I am now on the look out for a Doppler but heard many don’t actually work, does anyone use or recommend one?

Ounces

My little one is 8 weeks old this Saturday. She’s still only taking 4oz with the occasional 5. The health visitor weighed her yesterday and she’s putting on weight but reading on here most people’s babies are on 5oz or even more now. Is anyone else the same? She seems content and plenty of wet nappies

Nursery funding confusion

Assuming my baby is born in June not July as my due date is the end of the month, I believe we would qualify for 30 hours funding from April providing I’m back to work.
However I have just discovered that the nursery does not have availability until June 2027!! I am shocked as it’s the nursery my daughter is at and we didn’t sign her up until after she was born. Choosing another nursery is not an option.
My question is this - if baby is born in June 26 an starts nursery June 27, can the funding start straight away? Or will we be made to wait until September as he did not start nursery at the beginning of the new term in April?
