Where did I go wrong??

I’ve tried to do everything the best I can for my son, we’ve breastfed, co slept, never ever left him to cry, responded calmly 95% of the time, and have created a very peaceful calm household… but he has awful separation anxiety, when I try say no to the boob he goes ape shit, pulling and smacking, his sleep is and always has been pretty bad. And I just see other parents whose babies sleep through the night independently, fall asleep on their own, are happy to fall asleep for grandparents etc.

And here I am, a Slave and a capture to my son…

What did I do wrong? I’ve tried my best 😞

You have done nothing wrong at all!!! Every child is different and even if we all treated our kids the exact same as each other, theyd still be different! Weaning is hard and our infants are full of big emotions and theyre just trying to learn how to express them, its challenging but its normal x

I don't think that's fair , some parents who are really loving with their babies are just really lucky with babies who sleep through, it's not that they are left to cry. That's an unkind generalisation and could leave some mums reading this feeling bad about themselves when they've done nothing wrong.and just got lucky.

Babies all go through séparation anxiety, you are doing nothing wrong, it's totally normal. It's a hard phase and exhausting for the main care giver (I feel the same and my girl is the same with me) but it gets better over time I hear! We just need to hang on in there but I really hope you get comfort from the fact that loads of mums are in the same boat ❤️ giving your baby a nurturing home is the best thing you can do but it won't stop the anxiety,.it's just a normal phase of development that will pass like any other xx

I feel like this often 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Breastfeed day and night for 17 months and still do, I am a stay at home mum, co sleep, literally feel as a slave to my own child as you said 😄🙈🙈 Barely any space to breathe. And baby girl is very clingy, maybe because of no nursery who knows. But I am not calm, I shout 75% of the time, have tantrums (yes me, not the baby) and I cannot say I am happy. So being calm, or the opposite as you see makes no difference. My child doesn't hurt us, maybe bec of the shouting who knows, but that's about it, I feel the same 🙈🙌🏼🙌🏼

Also feel you here! This is my second baby and she is still.much more reliant on breast feeding through night and in day compared to my first who by this point just had 1 feed a day before bed. I've done nothing differently, they are just totally different babies so I promise you it's 100% not you! It's wonderful you have provided such constant and committed care and these babies will start to feed a little less as time goes on but I feel.your frustration too as I would like to stop Breast feeding now and have absolutely no idea how I could ever actually do that with this baby. She also has bad separation anxiety too. Exhausting😮‍💨

I have twins. We have treated them exactly the same. There’s a huge development leap now where separation anxiety peaks. Some kids handle it well. Some really struggle. My twins have the same routines, one will happily sleep through independently. The other will do the first 3 hours alone and then the rest of the night with me in my bed. Both of them are normal toddlers just dealing with things in their own ways. It’s nothing you’ve done. It does pass (I have a 5yo too and came out the other side of we’d never have tried for another 😂)

Look at any other mammal in nature they stay with their young until they can fend for themselves including sleeping together at night. Independent sleep is a societal creation not a biological norm

Thank you all for your lovely replies, that does help me feel better. The reality of motherhood is so much harder than I expected, in ways i didn’t expect. I thought by 18 months he’d sleep well, everyone had told me teeth didn’t make a difference to breastfeeding (it’s ruined everything!) and the insane separation anxiety is like nothing I ever imagined! But it’s nice to know it’s not my fault, and I’ve not ruined him! I’m only trying my best 🥹

Exactly the same position here, has to be me seeing to her through the night every 2-3 hours, still breastfeeding and many tantrums when I say no when she asks for the 100th time that hour lol xxx

Anger over husband going on work trip

So for context we have a 6mo and a 2.5 year old, my husband has gone to Prague for 2 nights on a business trip. I can’t help but feel a rage inside me when I’m having a hard time putting the kids to bed and I can see he’s out having a nice dinner and having drinks at bars. I suppose I am maybe abit jealous that he gets to do these things, it causes arguments. Is it normal I feel like this?

My 3.5 yo is at an age where he understands each occasion and enjoys it. So he thinking a Boo basket would be nice but looking at ideas online and it's full of tat lol I don't need more clutter in the house.

Coincidence or Retaliation? My MIL Is the CEO and I Just Got Demoted

My MIL is a bitch😂 sorry, just had to start off with that. Okay, now that I got that out 😂 let me give y’all the backstory because I genuinely need to know if I’m being dramatic or if this is as fucked up as it feels.

My MIL is the CEO of the company I work for. My husband also works there, he’s a Coordinator, and I was working as an Administrative Assistant/Peer Support Specialist. My husband and his mom have not been on speaking terms since July. I’m not going to dump the entire family tree on y’all 😂. Just know things between them have been BAD. We were also supposed to go to Thailand with her, but because of the issues between her and my husband, that trip basically got taken away from us. She went without us and came back literally ONE DAY before our gender reveal. She was not invited.

Now, before anybody says, “Well, that’s her son’s mom, how could you not invite her?” there is a LOT more to that situation, and at this point, my husband and I decided we were not going to pretend everything was fine just because it was a family event. We did invite some of our coworkers, though. Fast forward to Tuesday. I get called in and told that I’m being demoted. The reason I was given?

Budget cuts.

Okay… sucks, but whatever. I’m trying to be an adult about it. I’m pregnant, I have bills, and obviously getting demoted is stressful, but if the company is cutting the budget, then I can at least understand that it’s a business decision.

Except…

My husband and like 7 other ppl at the company got promoted the same week!! And then I was supposed to work until Friday in the office, but she sends another coworker of mine to tell me that she wants me gone the same day so my co worker can move in my space. How unprofessional!! Eventually my husband talked to his mom, and suddenly there were apparently MULTIPLE reasons for my demotion that had nothing to do with budget cuts. She allegedly told him that I had said I couldn’t lift certain items because I’m pregnant. NEVER SAID THAT! She brought up paperwork that supposedly wasn’t turned in. NEVER DID THAT! And then there was a customer complaint over the phone. BUT WAS CONFIRMED TO NOT BE ME! It was another employee.

Honestly, the part that bothers me the most isn’t even the demotion itself. It’s the possibility that something personal happening between my husband and his mother could have crossed over into my job. Because if you don’t like your son right now, that’s between y’all. If you’re mad that your son’s wife didn’t invite you to her gender reveal, okay. But my paycheck??? LEAVE MY PAYCHECK OUT OF IT. 😂

Potty training tips!!

We’ve been potty training our nearly 3 year old since the beginning of September and I honestly thought we would have been finished by now 😂

He’s fine with going in the house now but he will only go in his little potty that sits in the living room, he won’t go on the actual toilet. He goes himself most of the time but we do still have to ask him sometimes and I feel like he holds his wees in for hours sometimes. He’s is completely fine with poos though.

The problem is he’s naked from the waist down in the house. If we put anything on him he just thinks he can wee in it 😂 pants, trousers, pyjamas etc he just doesn’t seem to understand that he still needs to use the potty. He also doesn’t really care if he’s wet so I don’t know how to get him past that.

I’ve got no idea what to do when we go out either, I offer to take him to the toilet but he never goes so I just end up putting a nappy on him to go out for an easier life.

He starts nursery next week and I’m starting to panic a bit 😭 Has anyone else had a toddler like this and how did you get them to the next stage?

Any tips would be appreciated xx
