How do you get your employer to let you WFH?

Id be interested as to why they have refused a flexible work request. I also work in insurance but we're all hybrid, 60% in the office.
The only people who aren't allowed to WFH are new hires who have to complete 3 months in office in the beginning and then they can WFH if approved

You should never have different right to your collages, you should be treated equally and given the same WFH opportunities

That seems unfair to refuse for one day, what are the business reasons they have given for refusal?

They are hoping to make future changes to employment law later this year, already strengthened recently so workers have a day one right to request and there has to be a proper consultation etc and they need a good reason to refuse. Your colleagues have already set a precedent by showing it can be done so you should have a good case.

Flexible work request, they have to give you a valid reason if they cannot grant you the flexible working requirement

Much like others have said, they have to give you a valid reason for the denial. When I researched it I think off the top of my head there’s 8 reasons they can choose from, and you do have the right to appeal. Lots of helpful info on the government website, and mine was also in my company handbook.

Sounds completely unfair and unjust if others have been granted WFH and they won’t for you! Hope you get it sorted.

Flexible working request. They can't deny it without a valid reason, especially if your colleagues already WFH.

My company insists on 60% in-office attendance but I managed to wrangle 20% 😄
