C-section

I have a low lying placenta at 28 weeks. They will rescan at 32, but for now it hasn’t moved and they are recommending a planned c-section. I am very conflicted about it as I always thought I will have a vaginal birth, but not sure if it’s because I think it’s better or everyones opinion about it (especially my mom). I want to hear everyone’s experience and opinions on planned sections, how was the recovery, the benefits or what didn’t work. I was told I will still do the skin to skin and delayed cord clamping with the section. I will also have help for 10 days after surgery and my husband is staying with my home for a month.

I’m in the same position as you. I had a vaginal birth with my first and found recovery okay. I’m worried about having a section with the recovery time and limitations after, whilst having a 4 year old at home already. I have been told by the consultant that there is still chance of the placenta moving, as long as none of it is over the cervix. Which I don’t think mine is, so I’m still being hopeful x

Hello, I was told I have a low lying placent at my 20 week scan. They told me it is supposed to go up with the baby's growth though. Did they suggest to have a c section regardless?

I've had 2 emergency c sections and having my third by planned section. Both really positive experience and didn't feel panicked, also had delayed cord clamping and photos taken.
Recovery I was up walking and showered as soon as the epidural wore off and walking around no issues the next day (both of mine were late evening deliveries). Genuinely no issues in terms of recovery and pain (just kept up with pain medicine as advised) and able to breastfeed both.
They say you shouldn't drive for at least 6 weeks but I think I was back in the car by 4.
Likewise my scar healed nicely and not very noticeable now.

I had a low lying placenta with my 1st it eventually moved, you still have a little bit of time. I ended up with an emergency C section in the end and tbh it was so much more straightforward than the 14hrs of labour prior. I booked my scheduled c section when I was 13 weeks.
Yes you can definitely do skin to skin and some hospitals do delayed cord clamping as a default but you should ask
Recovery will take time and those 10 days you have two people helping will be a God send.

I’ve had two planned c sections, both with fast recoveries and memorable and calm experiences. I had delayed cord clamping, skin to skin, pictures and videos taken throughout and no issues breastfeeding. Personally I would recommend a c section anytime but I’m bias due to my experiences. Don’t let what anyone else thinks impact you and your decision making, you do what is safest for you and your baby x

Low lying anterior placenta

I had a low lying placenta at my 20 week scan and I’ve just had another scan at 29 weeks and it still hasn’t moved up. Has anyone had it move later on in pregnancy?

8 weeks pregnant

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and honestly am this close 🤏🏼 to stopping eating and drinking all together. The nausea is never ending and i get no relief no matter what i eat or drink. I am gaining weight already because i am trying to eat beige foods to relieve the nausea and its not working anyway. So i'm gaining weight with no benefit. 🤬 I have tried all the little tricks and nothing works. Bland foods, little and often, sips of fluid, crackers, sweets, ginger, orange juice, flapjacks, biscuits. I dont want to eat and have no apetite but forcing myself to for the nausea. Everything tastes wrong, even the things i crave. 🤯 I am exhausted with no time to actually rest. 🫩

C-Section Mamas

I had an emergency C-section at the start of September, and I haven’t had my 6 week discharge/follow up appointment come through from the NHS yet. Are we meant to organise this or is an appointment sent out? Can’t wait to find out when I can start some light exercise and scar massage etc! I’ve had other appointments since but nothing that focuses on this. Thank you 🙏🏼

Baby BOY name ideas! 🩵🍼

I’m pregnant with my first baby. We are expecting a little boy in mid January.
My partner and I have a few names on our list that we like, however I fear none of them are “his name”.
I’ve had the name Jude picked out for a boy for a very long time, since my early teenage years. I love it, but it’s become ridiculously popular now. 🥲💔💔 This really puts me off using it!

We are loving the name Saul at the moment.
Can anyone give us some inspo for a middle name for Saul? Our surname is two-syllables and begins with L.

When to go to hospital?

My understanding was when contractions seem to be averaging around 50-60 seconds every 5 minutes for an hour at least when it’s your first baby, to call triage and most likely go in.

I have just called as I now meet this and had bloody mucus first thing this morning, I didn’t want to travel 40 minutes to hospital to then be sent home again so wanted to ask their advice.

I have several medical conditions that need managing (obstetric consultant advised labour can progress quickly with my condition and to go straight to the delivery unit to begin some clotting medication and make the on call anaesthetist aware as soon as I arrive to start my care plans) and the cardiac paediatric team want to be present when baby is born due to potential heart issues.

The midwife advised if I go now they’d normally keep me in the antenatal ward but they have no beds so would have to send me home if in latent labour, which she thinks I am in. She has advised I wait until I am having contractions 1-2minutes apart before calling to go in, despite acknowledging my care plan and above consultant advise.

Is it just me or does 1-2 minutes feel quite late?
