If you've stopped breastfeeding how do you get your little one to sleep?

I'm not thinking of stopping yet but this is an anxiety of mine as breastfeeding seems to solve so many issues!
My little one breastfeeds once a day but when we put him to bed he always wants to start with some boob if it's me putting him to sleep. What have your experiences been like once you've stopped?

I stopped about a month ago when mine turned 18m (no reason for then other than we had a clear 2 weeks of no plans and my husband and I both being at home). I slowly reduced the time I’d feed for and stopped on one side completely first, then reduced the other side. I stopped feeding right before bed and made it the first step of the routine (for us it was boob-bath-PJs-book-bed). I also fed downstairs, then upstairs for bath etc, to try and make it less of a sleep association. I timed it and cut it down every couple of days until the last few feeds were literally 1 minute. I’d take her off and her dad would take her to entertain/distract her. It was so gradual, probably over around 3-4 weeks from when I decided I was ready to stop to the last feed. The first 2-3 nights after I stopped she would ask for milk but we’d just distract her with toys or books and after a few days she’d forgotten all about it

We do bath-boob if she asks for 2 mins- sometimes reading books and sometimes straight to being carried with her head on the shoulder. When she is asleep we put her down, sometimes she wakes up straight away and we need to repeat last steps. It gets better every day. We needed more time originally while now taking her up/carring and putting to sleep can take 4-10 minutes all together

But yes, first thing was to feed her outside of the bed and let her fall asleep in our hands. Some kids can fall asleep at this age reading books, depending on the temperament, ours is not there yet.

Leftover pregnancy/postpartum products

I have a load of leftover products either unopened or only used once, it seems a shame to throw them away any ideas what I can do with them? I don’t have any friends expecting or likely to get pregnant soon and I guess most places wouldn’t take them as donations? Based in London.

Milk leaking

Does anyone have any tips on how to stop milk leaking? After pumping I’ll put on a nipple pad but it gets soaked up and I leak through my tops/pyjamas.

Does anyone have any nipple pad recommendations? At the moment I’m just using the Boots own make.

Advanced autism possibility. Long one please read.

A silly remark from another mum at a toddler group has got my head frazzled and I’m now feeling concerned. I would love some advice from other mums on what you think of this situation.

My little boy has just turned 2 last month, he’s extremely sociable, we’ve gone to classes since he was around 2 weeks old and see’s other kids at nursery. We also have a huge family and friendship network with a lot of kids around his age.

He’s always been quite quick with his milestones, his talking is amazing for his age. He’s got a real interest in book, letters, numbers and shapes etc.

He now counts to around 30, he can tell you the full alphabet and can point to letters/numbers when jumbled up and still identify. He’s great with shapes and colours too. I just genuinely thought this was pretty standard. He’s always just shown a keen interest in learning through play! We play with his tuff tray a lot and I incorporate a lot of learning skills ie literacy and maths into this while still having fun.

Anyways, we were at a group and another mum was listening to him chat away and I asked him to spell his name, he’s been doing this now while pointing to letters and spelling it out (it’s on his bedroom wall) and now he doesn’t need to see the letters to spell it as he’s got it in his memory. She approached and asked his age etc and literally asked if I had concerns of autism. I was shocked if I’m honest.

Later in the group one of the members got out his favourite book, he reads it most days at nursery and at home. We love the book therefore he knows what’s coming in the story and as the lady was reading my little boy decided to join in and was telling her what’s coming next. The same lady from earlier was sat next to me and make a snide remark, not a compliment and went ‘wow brainy eh’.

When we’re in supermarkets and he see’s the numbers above the aisles he likes to point them out. Or if we see a car parked he likes to tell me the entire reg plate. Is this a fixation or is it just an interest?

This has me so confused.

Can I have opinions please 🥲
