Biting nails

Please send help yall my boy is nonverbal and has some tendencies of autism but we are holding off on testing until he hits 3 in case he’s just a little delayed but as we get closer I’m just not sure. He’s in speech and OT which is definitely helping BUT he has been a nail biter since he was about 1. He was never really an issue and I actually was happy I didn’t have to try to cut his little nails anymore (I know not my brightest moment I should’ve caught it early and maybe we wouldn’t be here now) but he is now biting them so much that he’s breaking skin. He likes to hold the tiniest piece of something between his fingers and it looks like it’s just trying to get something to hold so he’s biting his nails to get something. He bites plastic toys and hold that tiny piece for a long time before moving on and forgetting about it being there. I’ve tried tethers and stuff like that for him and he’s just not interested. I’m at a loss right now as to what we can do to help him. I don’t want him to keep biting and breaking skin and bleeding because he doesn’t seem bothered by it and keeps doing it. Please help!

My son is autistic and does the same thing. He also likes to hold tiny pieces of anything! There are non toxic polishes online that you put on and it has a terrible taste. We tried that and he stopped almost immediately. Maybe it’s worth a try?

Ark Therapeutic has sensory chewing tools of varying shapes, textures, and firmness. We've used many of them for our resident thumb sucker.

Hi my son 27 months speaks some of the words doesn’t respond to his name , doesn’t call us with any name , doesn’t really follow commands . can say all the fruit names , numbers , animal names but i strongly believe he is on spectrum . My question is how can we differentiate between verbal and non verbal autistic toddlers ?

Social services

I have been referred to social services due to a cancelled abortion clinic appt as they were worried about emotional abuse/coercive control. I have another toddler already. Feeling very stressed and anxious. Has anyone had this experience themselves or have any experience of social services assessment? They advised they will be visiting me.

4m sleep regression

My daughter is 16 weeks old now and prior to about 2 weeks ago she used to be such a good sleeper at night. One maybe 2 wakes at most and she slept through the night a handful of times!

Since she hit 14 weeks, everything changed 😅 she wakes up constantly all night, 5-10 times a night.. I’m exhausted! I think the 4 month sleep regression came a little early for us ?

We’re 2 weeks into it now with no sign of it getting any better, how long can I expect this to go on for? Will she ever be a good sleeper again? 😫

Triple Feeding 🙃 Nipple Shield Weaning ? Any success stories !??

Hi everyone. My baby girl was born on 25th September at 34 weeks (she was 5lb 5oz) and we spent a couple weeks in hospital afterwards. Initially for the first 7 days she was tube fed and we were discharged triple feeding, so I breastfeed (have only had success with a nipple shield 🙃) then I top up with 45ml breastmilk afterwards and then pump. This is not sustainable long term but I guess I'm just looking for any success stories from doing this?!? I don't really know what to do, she doesn't transfer milk very well whilst breastfeeding as every feed takes a good half hour per breast (if I manage to get her to latch) and then she needs the top up after. It all feels a bit pointless using the nipple shield but she is completely reliant, has anyone managed to wean their little one off? I went to a breastfeeding clinic locally and found it a bit stressful so don't really want to go back (I just had a lady trying to shove my boob in her mouth for 20 mins without a shield whilst she screamed hysterically). I don't really know what to do and just feel like I need some reassurance to bin it all off and transition to formula maybe? Or shall I wait it out??

She will be 4 weeks on Friday and is now 5lb 14oz (up from 5lb 5oz).

Sending hugs to all you September mums 😄 xxxx
