Good luck girl! I’ve got mine on Tuesday so following along for the comments 🤭🫣 It’s weird because I know I’m going to be fine but this is my first surgery and feels so real now that it’s only a few days away!!

I had one back at the end of August. It was all quite last minute, only had 4 days to prepare, but it was actually such a positive experience for me and for my husband. I remember everything, and the doctor, midwives and anaesthetist in particular were amazing and really looked after us. I never had a c section with my older daughter or any surgery at all before, so I was nervous. We aren’t having more kids but if we were I wouldn’t be worried about an elective c section if I needed one. If you have questions let me know :)

I had one about three months ago, and honestly it was a great experience! I would do it again. It was so calm and the staff were amazing.

I had one a few months ago and it was the most amazing birth I could have ever imagined.

I had prepared a playlist I was allowed to listen in theatre, the nurses had a chat with me about random things whilst they were doing the spinal which I barely felt, they laid me down and my husband came into the room .

Before we knew it (probably 3rd song in) they asked us if we wanted to meet our baby. They took him away for 2-3 minutes to clean him and cut his cord and we then did skin to skin and spent time with him whilst they were finishing off the surgery. They took me into recovery whilst I was holding our baby.

I had lunch within the hour, and the first walk was actually not bad. I pushed the cot from recovery to the antenatal not needing any assistance.

Stay on top of your painkillers and peppermint tea. Day 3 and 4 are the toughest but not as bad as I thought. Hold a pillow on your belly if you sneeze, cough or laugh

I had an elective October last year due to baby being breech. I was so scared and nervous as id never stayed in hospital before yet alone having surgery but it was a really calm experience from start to finish. I made my own playlist and the staff were so reassuring and made me feel comfortable. They explained everything really well and made sure I was okay all the way through. The surgeon got my partner to get his camera ready to he could get a picture as baby was lifted out. Was a really crazy but magical experience. X

I had elective section in 2024 it was so relaxed. The waiting around before you get called down was nerve recking but once you are in there they get everything sorted. It does feel weird when they are trying to get baby out. Then the next thing you know you're baby is led on your chest. I didn't realise they had started closing everything up as you are in a love bubble. They like to get you up and moving as quickly as possible but also listen to your body drink plenty and keep topped up on medication. Good luck

I had mine in March and I cannot have dreamed up a better birth experience. Happy to chat if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to x

The cannula doesnt hurt at all , the spinal is like a pinch - if it help ask your partner beforehand to talk about some random topic during the surgery this part was like 10 minutes and then baby is out and after that you’ll be having skin to skin so you don’t notice the time or operation at all .

Take chewing gum with you and as soon as you are out of surgery chew the gum - it honestly helps loads with gas and bowel movement. Take some coconut water in your hospital bag as it helped me well hydrated and pass urine well .

Don’t be afraid to ask for stool softeners for later 😅 trust me it makes that first poop less daunting ..

Good luck for next week hope you have a smooth n safe delivery xx

I had an elective c section at 39 weeks and i had such a good experience. I was super nervous but they made me feel so comfortable and they also took my phone and took so many photos and videos throughout which will be forever memories of the moment!
The recovery is easier when planned from what I’ve heard, obviously take it easy and rest up as much as possible but doing little walks here and there when you can really helped me!

I was super nervous but the spinal bit didn’t hurt as much as I thought (barely felt it) and it’s over fairly quickly and you really don’t feel much at all! It was such an amazing experience for me! If you have any questions or anything then feel free to drop me a message! Xx

Mine was honestly amazing, so much so that I am booked in for another next month.
You are calmly walked to the theatre, you can have music playing and pictures taken. The staff were all very accommodating and kind. I felt a bit queazy during the spinal, so they ended up laying me on my side which worked a treat.
Ask them to talk you through everything if that helps you process it, and explain that you're nervous. They will do their best to calm you.
Once I was numb, I didn't feel a thing, can't remember the tugging that a lot of people refer to, so it can't have been bad.
Baby is out quickly, within about 4 minutes of starting surgery and that is all you focus on from that point. It takes a while for them to stitch you up, but again, I can't really remember, as I was just staring at my son. The rest of the world disappeared!!
Between now and your surgery, have a look at anxiety reducing meditations or affirmations on youtube and take them with you mentally. Or even speak them out loud to yourself!

Help please!

Hi, just looking for some advice. Been suffering with back pain and pelvic girdle throughout pregnancy, and now entered third trimester and it’s gone up another notch and pretty unbearable! Think triggered from a 3 hour drive and back the next day for a work event earlier this week 😞
Has anyone got any quick help tips they found worked well?

Baby's first passport

Hello! Stupid question but need an answer - I'm applying for my babys first passport and its asking if he had names previous to his given name. Before he was registered, he had my last name and was on everything as 'master lastname' or 'baby lastname'. Now hes registered, I gave him his dad's last name (we're unmarried). Are they wanting this name too? Or do i just say no. Thanks!

To belly band or not to belly band post surgery

I’m headed into my second csection (planned this time) and am wondering if most people are using belly bands? My OB advised it’s not necessary but I see so many ads for them about assisting in recovery.
Did you use a band?
At what week post surgery did you start? Did it hinder the scars healing being covered ?
Do you have a certain one you recommend?

When did you go in to labour?

How many weeks + days did you go in to labour with your first baby?

Interested to see how many were before or after the due date!

Also any symptoms before your waters broke?

Currently at 38 weeks and noticing every little twinge 😂
