So my child 2 years ago when potty training weed on the carpet. I thought I managed to get it out/cleaned up. Fast forward 2 years and we decided to get carpet deep cleaned on Monday (now Saturday) and not only is the carpet still damp (cleaner said it would only take 2 hours to dry) but it STINKS. I presume it’s the wee from 2 years ago. But it’s now the whole carpet that stinks of it! In particular the area that he weed in. How do I fix this?
I tried those shake and vacs but the smells never fully went and now come back after an hour.
Any tips/advice?

The smell does go eventually. If the carpet dries too slowly after getting too wet it stinks for days. Sounds like too much water went into the carpet and not sucked up enough and if its been damp or cold where you are unfortunately its going to take forever to dry. Let it dry fully and if the smell still lingers get a professional clean but get then to use odour neutralising shampoos. It's used for pet odours to remove the smell of urine alternatively you can buy a pet carpet shampoo and do it yourself.
Rent your own carpet cleaners also suck at sucking up moisture. Id rather pay a pro to do it that try to save money on crappy carpet cleaners. Plus if its not warm enough weather to leave the windows open continuously to dry you will just get mould and damp smells.

Bless you, its so frustrating. If you have a dehumidifier id definitely get that on in each room to or rent one. That with the heating on can help a tonne. Im sure the smell will go 😊

Enzyme cleaner?

Bicarbonate of soda. Shake it all over the carpet and leave overnight then hoover. X
