Struggling to walk/stand - 4 days post c-section

So I had my c-section on Tuesday this week. Obviously have the occasional pain if I accidentally get up too quick or twist/move wrong, which I expect. However I did also expect to be able to walk and/or stand for longer than 5 mins by now without getting an awful burning sensation coming from my scar…It gradually gets worse the longer I walk or stand and then have to sit back down to relieve the pain. I’m on the recommended painkillers and have been keeping up with taking them as and when I should.

Is this normal? I sometimes have to remind myself that I’m recovering from major abdominal surgery but I’ve seen so many people’s experiences where they’re able to go to the shops etc after only a few days, so I think I’ve given myself false promises!
I know I shouldn’t compare my experience with others but it just feels so defeating when I thought I would be able to at least go for a small walk or do more than just go to the toilet and back 🥲

If it’s not getting a bit easier every day, then call triage or your midwife and explain your worries. I had a similar experience. I’m now 5 weeks postpartum and still very sore, but I can walk and pick up my 2 year old without pain. Everyone’s recovery is different be kind to yourself ❤️

I had exactly this and was told it was nerve damage due to the skin healing again. It gradually got better but if you need to speak to someone your midwife is a great place to start. Congrats on your new baba x

It took me about ten days to not have that burning sensation. Try not to compare yourself to others, we’re all different. It took me 2 weeks to be brave enough to go for a short walk up and down my street 🙈

I was in hospital for 7 days after getting an infection and bleeding out ✌️I was getting morphine, paracetamol and some other painkillers i can't remember. I was still in agonising pain when i got home. I think everyone underestimates how much pain you can be in. I also second that if it's not easing day by day you should speak to dr

The burning sensation is awful and mine last until a week later but was able to walk and sit with pain being 4/10. For peace of mind can you go MAU tomorrow and get them to check scar etc

I had the most unhelpful (male) GP when I went in to see if there was something wrong because of my level of pain 10 days post. He told me if painkillers weren’t working then I should just stop taking them all!

Remember what you have just put your body through. It’s major surgery, not getting around that. More than just pain, you’re also likely to be very tired. Keep active, but “active” looks very different after surgery! It’s normal to be in pain and need to sit/lie down… at least it was for me for about 2 or 3 weeks. Pain went after about 5 weeks.

But if you’re in any way concerned, call the triage line (you’re under them for 6 weeks I believe post birth).

I feel exactly the same! I had my baby 4 days ago also. I get a burning on the left side of my scar. I have a pico dressing so can’t actually see the incision. It is worrying cos I’m the same. I feel like everything forgets how hard recovery from birth is and so they make light of it or say oh I don’t remember the pain being that bad 🙈 I’m on round the clock paracetamol and ibuprofen! Is there anything stronger you can take?

Circumcision 10 months old

Hey,
Today was my child's circumcision appointment, but I stepped away and said no. I didn't dare. How was I going to have the guts to do it? I was at the clinic, and I melted and started crying so badly that I couldn't. Now, have I made the right decision? I wasn't ready

What was your experiences in getting it done in older kids?

Thanks

Hospital bag

Packing my bag, will the hospital have towels? This is my second baby I took way too much with my first and so don’t have much space for a towel now 🫣

Early pregnancy bump

My little one is 5.5 months and still isn’t rolling. Feels like eveyone else’s babies are miles ahead of him and it’s making me worried.
