First time mum here and my midwife has asked me about a birth plan and I have no idea what I need to tell them in regards to what I want etc... as long as my baby gets here safe.... Any advice or insight as to what your birth plan was/is

It really just depends what’s important for you, and what your options are based on your pregnancy. I brought the positive birth company course, they had a template for a birth plan which was quite handy but you can probably find them free online. Mine contained stuff like wanting a water birth and the midwife led unit (this is obviously dependent on availability), but you can put things such as wanting to be left to it, if you want certain music or those little tea lights or aromatherapy. Xx

But also importantly if you feel strongly about certain interventions and the pain medication you do or don’t want

I had a planned c section so mine might be a bit different to someone who planned for labour etc but some of the general points on mine were:
I want him to have the vitamin K injection.
I want to do delayed cord clamping and my partner to cut the cord.
I don’t want him to be taken out of sight of me or my partner at any time.
I don’t want any visitors during my stay at hospital.
The rest was about the medical issues I had during my pregnancy that I wrote down so everyone was aware who read it.
Some people who give birth vaginally write about if they want epidural or pain meds etc
