We have just had our 20 week scan and it was all going swimmingly until the very end! When our sonographer said they wanted to do one last check - the umbilical cord, this was shortly after saying this would be our last scan before delivery. They then got me off the bed and went on to say we'd need a growth scan at 32 weeks, contrary to what he'd just said so we questioned - he didn't seem comfortable delivering the news that we have a 2 artery umbilical cord over 3 which obviously meant we left with some anxiety! A couple of googles later and now I'm stressing about birth defects, still born and pre term risk.
Has anyone had this and what was your experience?

Ask for a rescan, i think it’s possibly Martha’s law requires you to be allowed a second opinion x

I assume you were given follow up with consultant? If not ring your midwife or clinic tomorrow and ask for one x

Perhaps I'm underreacting but I had my 20 week scan last week and was told I also had a two vessel umbilical cord. I feel surprisingly calm but having experienced multiple losses I just feel grateful to have made it to 20 weeks so perhaps my judgement is clouded.
I was told that although its not ideal, its just a variation that happens and is fairly common. I have been offered additional growth scans at 32, 36 and 40 weeks.
Did they check the blood flow to your placenta? How was that?
And how has your baby been growing so far? Mine has been quite a bit above average since the very beginning so this has given me a lot of comfort that my baby is still getting what he needs.
