No hate please, I know this is a controversial topic.
Has anyone looked into sleep training now our little ones are approaching 5 months old? My daughter is still waking multiple times in the night and needs her dummy, rocking or feeding to get back to sleep. She is also very hard to get to sleep at bedtime. I am not set on eliminating night feeds altogether as I know these are normal, but I would like to be able to get some sleep in the near future and also do my eldest daughter’s bedtime, which is impossible at the moment.
Considering some form of sleep training but don’t really know where to start. Is anyone else looking into this or have any advice?

We started end of 3rd month, definitely not “cry it out” but by introducing a strict routine.
- 2 hr wake before bed time
- feeding frequently during that wake window (ebf)
- bath with lots of play
- soft talking while getting dressed, brushing hair, nose cleaning w aspirator
- feeding + burping
- putting her in bed with soft white noise that is not too loud
Unless she is extremely tired/overstimulated OR if she didn’t build enough sleep pressure, she will either fall asleep on her own or will only cry 3-5 mins max (not loud cry)
It took us 1 week for her to get into this routine, we allowed for her to cry 10 mins max if “whine-crying”, 5 mins if a bit more loud. And never let her scream cry.
She is much happier now as before we were spending ages patting her back on our shoulders (30/45mins) and she would cry then because we didn’t realize we were just overstimulating her.
I listened to a ton of podcasts, and the primary way to help them is establishing a routine.
