My partner works away from home for ten days then is home for four. Throughout my pregnancy my MIL was supportive. She checked in regularly etc. Baby arrived at the end of January and it’s basically been radio silence. She’s still warm with me when we go and visit her and FIL when my partner is home but it’s crazy how she’s just disappeared. No messages, nothing. We live 8 minutes away from them, they’ve been told multiple times they dont have to wait til my partner is home to see the baby, but I don’t hear a peep. Baby has had some challenges, I’ve had mental health struggles post baby and the support I thought we’d get is non existent. Not a single message to see how we are.
They’ve held my LO probably 4 times in 3 months. LO gets upset when she’s handed over because she doesn’t know them. I’m just shocked that they’re willing to miss out on spending time with her more than anything.
I’m starting to get highly irritated by any unsolicited advice she provides when we’re there and really resent handing my baby over to her. I do because I want them to bond. Any advice on navigating this is greatly appreciated.

I totally get it as I’ve gone through a similar experience. My MIL checked on me during my pregnancy then hasn’t checked on me at all postpartum. She talks to my husband almost every day but I don’t hear anything from her. Then she expects me to reach out for her to watch the baby? Lol. But it has to be on her terms! And flaked on us to watch him twice! Anyway I don’t have any advice for you I’m sorry but you’re not alone!
