Hi All!
I’ve recently found out that I can’t go to my due date (for a couple reasons). I initially had my sights set on a natural birth in the birthing centre but now that’s obviously not on the cards!
I’ve been reading a lot online & speaking to people and I’m really torn on an induction or planned c section. I’d love to be able to give birth naturally but I don’t want it to be a long process that ultimately ends in a c section?! I’ve also got GBS so I’m more concerned about a long labour.
I have an appointment coming up with a consultant to discuss but I’d really like to have my own “plan” on what I’d like before I go to the appointment.
So… anyone with prior experience… planned c section or induction? What would/did you choose?
Thank you💖

I have a meeting with my consultant tomorrow, I’m wanting to book in an induction or elective section incase I don’t go into labour naturally prior to the date. I’m also not allowed to go to my due date but I’m still really hoping for a vbac

From my personal experience 100% planned section!
I know 4 people (including myself) who had had inductions 3 or which ended in an emergency C-section for various reasons (one friend didn’t progress, one wasn’t progressing fast enough and me personally everything went pear shaped but that’s a whole horror story) I wouldn’t wish an induction on anyone
That being said you COULD be one of the lucky ones that induction goes really well but unfortunately you never know until you try

Oh, you’re hardcore 😂. Yeah I think I’m just a little disappointed as it’s not what I wanted but hey ho, as long as baby is safe that’s all that matters 🥰

I had an induction with my first and NEVER AGAIN 😮💨. Everyone is so different, but can only go from my experience. I ended up being induced on the Tuesday and didn’t give birth until the Friday, and I can’t even explain to you the pain…. But that was before I FINALLY gave in to an epidural when it all felt a lot better. Was very close to needing an emergency c section, but luckily escaped it. Opting for a planned c section this time, as I’m truly traumatised by the whole thing.

I’m on high risk of preclampsia and they wanted to induced me on my due date. I refused the induction and I asked them to book a
c-section for that day. If I won’t give birth naturally before that day, then I’ll do c-section. I don’t want to be induced and have a slow labour ending anyway on a c-section. I want to avoid that risk

I was induced with my first baby at 37+2, the induction failed (they couldn’t even get to my waters to break them) and I had my baby girl via C-section at 37+6, so that’s 4-5 days at the hospital just waiting around and wasting time for it to end up in a c-section anyways. I know it doesn’t always end up in a section for people, but now I’m due to have my twins in June and I know they won’t let me go past 37weeks I am choosing to have an elective C-section, because I can’t imagine wasting nearly a week away from my first born just to wait for nothing and end up with a c-section anyways. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different, so you need to do what’s best for you! X

I really don’t know why the vote is higher with c section
C section is such a big surgery
I had induction it went very well
I had two sweep booked
The first one was successful didn’t need the second one
My water Broke two days then had to use ( could have been avoided ) hormones drips as my contraction were not getting closer …
Went in at 6 am gave birth at 6 pm
So I would say with the sweep you would know if the induction would be successful

I’ve had an induction and will never do it again. The contractions are constant, no break! This was at 36 weeks due to preeclampsia so I had only progressed 1cm after 24 hours of agony. I ended up with an emergency C-section and would choose a planned C-section over an induction if I could go back in time
