I know for dilation but like what is it supposed to feel like if I’m dilating?

Idk but I asked google. Here’s what it said-
What Professionals Feel During a Cervical Exam:
Opening Width: The distance between the edges of the cervix, measured in centimeters (1–10 cm).
Softness/Consistency: The cervix goes from feeling firm (like the tip of a nose) to soft and pliable (like lips) as it prepares for labor.
Effacement/Thinning: The cervix changes from thick to paper-thin.
Position: They check if the cervix has moved forward, from a "posterior" position (towards the back) to an "anterior" position (aligned with the birth canal).
Station: They gauge how high or low the baby's head is in the pelvis, often using the baby's head position as a guide to measure remaining cervix.
Membranes: They may feel if the amniotic sac is still intact.

It’s just to see how soft and open your cervix is. When I was actively pushing, my midwives were doing it to help the baby through because she had her hand up by her head, so they were pushing her hand back so I wouldn’t tear terribly.
