Shortness of breath and heart rate when lying down

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can give me advice - since 22 weeks (I am now 23) I’m really struggling to sleep and find when I lie down I feel a shortness of breathe and can physically feel my heart pounding, even when on my left hand side.

It eases up a little once I remove the elevation from my head but still doesn’t feel super comfortable.

I’m going to see the midwife as soon as I can after bank holiday, but has anyone experienced this?

Thank you!

You could be anemic. That can create heart palpitations.
Your heart rate is often slightly higher during pregnancy also

I felt exactly like this and it turned out I was anaemic with low B12 and needed some B12 injections so definitely ask for your bloods done and separate B12 check cos that can be low without affecting your haemoglobin x

Yeah I did and like the palpitations were taking my breath away a bit. The palpitations ended up hanging around even after my bloods normalised after treatment so I needed a 24 hour holter later in my pregnancy but it was fine and they just put it down to me being absolutely massive at that stage 🤣 I had a load of fluid as well which I don't think helped!

Forceps or c-section

This may be a unique question to ask but is there any moms out there who had a forceps and episiotomy with their first baby and then chose an elective C-section for their second?

I can’t say my labour was the worst because I had a spinal block. So by the time I delivered my baby by forceps I didn’t feel a thing because I was numb from the waist down. But I did find recovery a bit harder than I thought it would be. I know a section isn’t a walk in the park either so just wanted to see if anybody had experienced both and which did you prefer. Or if you’ve got a perspective then please share your thoughts.

Please note this isn’t a post for people to share scary birth stories. Please keep it to facts only about recovery if you’ve experienced both. Thanks 😃

C section questions

Hiii everyone! I’m a soon to be mum and also have type 1 diabetes. I’ve always been told I’d need a c section if I was to get pregnant but now I’m being told I have the option of how I want to give birth.. I had my mind prepared for a c section but then my midwife terrifieddddd me about it. Just hoping those who have had one could please share their stories and give me some reassurance 💛✨

Anyone else’s baby super big??

He’s so tall I’m almost scared bc is that normal 😭 like he’s bigger than every baby I’ve seen that’s older than him, I’m about 5’8-5’9
He’s 30inches maybe more? And about 21lbs he’s almost too long for 12mo clothes
He’s longer than my torso, he sits up all by himself but doesn’t want to roll over yet.
(He was born with club feet that’s why he has boots and bar (: )
He was born Nov 17th 2025

My period is one day “late” and I have been spotting brown for a week

Is this normal??? 🫣 everytime i use the bathroom I’m expecting my period to come but it’s just light brown spotting… before it was pink/blood spotting.

24 week - movement suddenly less regular

24 weeks tomorrow. I’ve been feeling movement since week 18, some
days more, some days less. It got a lot more regular in the last week or two and now baby has suddenly gone very quiet… I had a really busy day today myself but only felt him kick once or twice the entire day. Should I be worried? I have a posterior placenta btw
