Hey all,
Baby girl is 6 weeks old, 7 on Saturday. In the last 3 days, she’s done a complete 180 on us and has changed up, which I know is expected, but I am STRUGGLING.
She was always happy to sleep in her next to me at night, during the day she only wants contact naps, and that’s fine - I can compromise there, and I mainly want her in the crib at night for her own safety - I’d love nothing more to snuggle at night, but that’s just not safe and it’s the only time me and my partner can be together… we had a little routine, she’d have her bottle at around 7pm, would be changed and then would settle on my chest whilst we watched TV, then at around 10pm I’d take her to her bed, either me or dad would put her in the next to me and we’d all sleep until 2am when she would feed.
In the last 3 days, that has changed. She has her 7pm feed, then cries and fusses a lot.. this goes on until 9.30/10pm. She eventually falls asleep - lullaby, white noise, red light, dark room, being held and rocked, eventually this all works.. but then she refuses to sleep in her next to me.
Dad stays awake holding her until 2am, attempting transfers in between to no avail. Then I take over. She sleeps in our bed next to me fine.. the minute I try transfer her,… nope!
I don’t know what to do… I know there probably isn’t much I can do… I just wanna know if others have experienced this, does it get better? Any tips?

We had a lot of these same changes at around 6/7 weeks. It’s really hard! We mostly used the open sleep sacks and I switched back to the love to dream enclosed bags and saw quite immediate improvements in our case. Hope things become more manageable 🤞💕

We had something similar and found that she was just more hungry so we increased the milk. Hope you find a solution with your little one too.

It’s normal from 4 weeks up till 8 about 8 weeks for us for crying to start was told by HV it’s because they become more alert and realise they are not in the belly so want extra comfort, my baby is 2months now and he started settling better by 7/8 weeks, where he now rather his own space in the day cuz of the heat rising and happy for snuggles in afternoon/night before bedtime
