I do a lot of volunteering and it mainly involves children and I’m generally shocked by the amount of children that don’t know about please & thank yous!! I’ve actually had a child asked me what the means? Like is please & thank you not a thing anymore!! 😵💫

Yes we’re very strict about it, manners in general tbh. I volunteer a lot in my son’s first grade class and I agree with you. It’s alarming.

That's wild. My child has been using her manners since she learned to speak. It's incredibly important and now she does it spontaneously, I'm very proud of her.

There is this obnoxious
song from Nick Jr. I still sing to this day when my kiddos forget to say please and thank you.
It is a good reminder for them to keep up the good manners.
🎼Please don't forget to say please, thank you for saying thank you, excuse me are two nice words too🎶 😅
Come to think of it, I haven't had to sing it in awhile.
I don't know if links work but I found its still circulating on YouTube.

My daughter has been saying thank you since she was about 1 😭 she learned please not long after that

I would guess most people do, but the lack of enforcement is probably the issue.

It blows my mind the amount of adults that get OFFENDED when I say pardon me, when walking past them, or in their line of sight at say the grocery store or something. Look at me like I shoved them out of the way, or shoulder checked them or something.
MANNERS MATTER. 🤣👏🏻

Hes only 1 but we're working on it! He says "th, th, th" whenever we give him a toy so im calling that a win lol

This is crazy. My grandma would constantly be on me and my brother as kids to remember our manners and how to be polite etc. Its definitely something I value and am teaching my son the same. He was a bit behind in talking so he learnt 'ta' first for thank you but I always model good manners in front of him and make sure he uses his and its rare I have to remind him now and like when he says thank you for example you can see he means it and isn't just saying the words. There's still areas he might be considered slightly behind but he is 3 and I'm damn proud at least he is learning to be a decent human being

I do with my 2yo but still trying to teach my husband who is adamant that they are "just extra words that serve no purpose" 🙃

My son can’t say it yet but signs thank you

Yeah we do, I'm pretty hot on it tbh. If she wants something, she asks for it and says (or signs) please, she doesn't get the thing until she does. My only exception is water, if she wants water but she doesn't say please I let that slide, I'm not a monster 😂

I do but as much as my 2 year old can talk she hasn’t picked up on it (ironic🤣). But I always say it for her until she can
