Hello all,
I’m currently 25+5 days pregnant. The last few weeks has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me and my partner. I was told I had low Papp a during my 12 weeks scan. Then low iron at week 17 and gestational diabetes at week 24. My baby was measuring small at week 20, but they couldn’t find out why he was measuring small till I went for a growth scan a few days ago at week 25.
That was when they discovered the abnormality in my placenta. My baby is fine but the blood flow from the placenta to him has some gaps in it.
I got referred to the Doppler team, and they said there’s a high possibility I won’t be able to carry my baby full term. The highest I can go with my placenta is week 34, but if things get worse then they’ll induce.
I also met up with the fetal monitoring team and they said something similar with a bit of good news. They said everything is pointing to the placenta and at the moment, my baby is fine and isn’t straining to use his organs, but I will need to do scans (Doppler and fetal) every other day, CTGs and blood tests. The fetal team said the placenta won’t fail in a few days and from what they can see, it will work at this pace for the next 3 weeks which will get me to week 28. They also mentioned that there’s like a 70% chance the placenta can hold on till week 32.
Please, I need positive stories about people that had similar experiences or had a premature baby.

I have been having twice weekly Doppler scans and ctg's for placental insufficiency and SGA since around 30 weeks when they discovered it so a bit further on than you, I am 37 weeks on Monday and have basically lived at the hospital this past 6 weeks, at 34 weeks I was admitted for 5 days and given the steroids shots and they thought she would be coming out then but then decided to keep her in a bit longer, my blood flow from the placenta still isn't great but it's not getting any worse and at my last growth scan she is on the 9th percentile but her growth has still been slowly gaining. It's been incredibly anxiety inducing but they are basically doing 'watch and wait' to see if they can get me to a planned c section at 39 weeks 😬 which is much further than I thought we would get! Feel free to message me xx

I had placental insufficiency with my firstborn, first discovered he was growing small at 21 weeks as had a rescan of the 20 weeks due to not getting all the measurements, had regular growth scans every 2 weeks, he was born at 34+4 via induction, had a 17 day nicu stay, hes now a very happy healthy 5 year old xx
