FTM — Is my 5 day old getting enough milk? Should I switch to formula?

My baby boy is breastfed and his pee count today was 3 diapers and 1 poop so far. A nurse from the hospital I delivered at suggested I give him formula to see if it increases but i’d rather breastfeed or pump and bottle feed She said to try formula because he might not be getting enough milk from me.

It seems like he is though because our feedings are going well, he passes out after a feeding and i feed him every 2-3 hours. and i hear him swallowing while i feed him. the nurse over the phone was really pushing me to give him formula when she called this morning but i waited a bit and then he started peeing back to back. He also had his NB appointment with the pediatrician yesterday and she said he’s doing great so far. Any advice or opinions?

My pediatrician told me that a baby that is fed exclusively by breastfeeding can poop 0 in 3 days or 8 times in one day and that’s completely normal. So that gives me so much peace

In the hospital I was push to give my baby formula and I was so scared that I agreed, even we buy formula and we make a bottle, my baby didn’t even eat it, I’ve been breastfeeding and in her second visit to the doctor she gain a pound!

So trust in your gut, nobody knows your baby better than you, you made that baby from scratch, trust on you

I just had my baby April 25th. I'm also a FTM. She didn't poop for a couple days and had very little pee. I finally started seeing progress at day 5 or 6. Her dr said because her belly is so small at first, they only eat about the size of a cherry tomato if that. You got this. Don't stress.

Is baby back to birth weight? I’d contact an IBCLC and do a weighted feed to confirm that baby is transferring milk well! When we were having issues I’d feed baby at the breast and the pump after and offer a bottle of the pumped milk to see if he was still hungry

Breastfeeding

I have a wedding this weekend and I’m currently exclusively breast feeding. Unfortunately kids aren’t allowed to the wedding so I’m trying to think of what’s best for my little boy. To pump or to offer formula and breast milk. He can be a little reluctant at times with bottles but will take it.
Any suggestions? 🙏
I’m also worried about what this could do to my supply

Fashion babes help me in the comments 😭

I’m buying a bag for holiday, I’ve decided to splurge on just one and then maybe buy another 2 cheap ones as back up.

Problem is I’m indecisive 🫠 I’ve managed to narrow it down from 13 to 4 bags but I still can’t choose

Surrogate mothers

This is a random question that I was generally just curious about the other day and I figured someone here would have the answer... but after surrogate mothers give birth, do they produce breast milk? What happens next with that? Do they pump and keep giving it to the parents of the baby? If not do they have to pump until it dries up so they don't keep getting engorged? Maybe they donate it or sell it? I don't ever plan on being a surrogate but I was just generally curious about this lol

Weaning nightmare

Anyone else hating weaning? Every time I try to put my girl in her high chair, or put a bib a or jacket on she screams until she's red and shaking.
By that point it pretty awful so we tend to abandon, we have barely given our 7.5 month old anything because of this.
Any tips or advice?
I've tried different chairs, no bib different times of day. Just exhausted and getting sad seeing all the other babies sat eating food in group chats

First Time Mom with a late talker

Hello fellow mama's, I could really use some advise and support for my LO. He's 18 months next week and still not really talking. Lot's of baby talk, say "mamama and dadada" and other sounds sounds but nothing with like specific intention. He's said hi a couple times but it's difficult to get him to repeat it. He's where he's supposed to be developmentally in pretty much every other way and when you talk to him and ask him to say things it looks like he's thinking so hard but just can't connect the dots. He has his 18 month check next week so we're going to bring it up, hopefully we can get a referral. But was just wanting to kind of hear other mom's stories if your little ones had similar experiences. It's so difficult not to feel like a failed parent in situations like this.
