Skipping Nursery - or waiting until 3

I’m just curious - has anyone chosen not to take their little ones to nursery and just gone straight to primary school? Or maybe waited until they were around 2-3ish?

What have your experiences been like? ❤️ I know a lot of people love nursery and for most of us it’s a necessity with work - I have no shade towards anyone that does the nursery option at all - I just have this deep feeling like this might not be the right option for me or my little one.

I never hear or see many people sharing their stories or advice about skipping nursery or going at an older age so thought I’d ask! 😊 I’m not against nurseries and socialisation but I would feel more comfortable if he wasn’t still so dependant.

My son was 2.5 when he went to nursery and my daughter is will be home schooling from the start, so she won't attend a nursery at all.

Nothing to do with baby

So upset right now …Having a chilled day

My husband came home from work and said he didn’t like how much we spent on the wedding because his friend’s partner is apparently spending way less. It really upset me because it felt like our choices and all the effort I put in were being compared and criticised after the fact. I want to bring it up without turning it into an argument…. how would you handle it?

He said “ I really like what she’s doing , you didin’t do that” I was like okayyy?? But I want to confront him coz I’m really upset now!

Is this a good idea for nursery days?

For a 3 year old in a school nursery setting to do -
Tuesdays full day
Thursdays full day
Friday morning only

He’s never been to nursery before and which days doesn’t bother me cause I’m off with my other child anyway and all I know is that I don’t want Mondays to be a day he goes.
I’m just not sure if to do the two full days back to back at the end of the week (with Fridays half day)

Sick of the scrutiny

Anyone else feel like this?!

I feel like I'm constantly being scrutinised!!! Feel like I'm getting it from all sides today.

I send a video of me and my LO giggling to my family, and my sister makes a comment 'how are you sleeping?' basically saying Im looking tired without saying I'm looking tired. I'm sorry I don't look like an Instagram Mum, but thanks for pointing that out!!

Then I ask my work from home husband to hold her for 20 mins so I can get some lunch in peace because she won't let me put her down without crying. Now he's making out like I'm struggling. He's always telling me I don't ask enough for help, and then when I do ask for help I get so scrutinised!

Just sick of everyone and feel like so isolated by the lack of others understanding

Do you provide opportunities for your children to engage in “heavy work”

If yes, what type of activities?

MIL question. Would this annoy you? Because it makes me want to stop responding to her altogether but I guess then I’d be the A-hole

She’ll ask me something like “do the kids have a graduation ceremony coming up?” Or “what are you guys doing this weekend” and if I don’t answer right away she’ll double text with a “guess I’ll never know” or “never mind I guess…” it seems so rude and entitled to me like dang it’s literally been a few hours lady and I have a life AND on top of that you have your sons phone number. she’s done it 3 times now in 2 months so it’s just aggravating the crap out of me

Going out for dinner

All of those with active boys who just want to run around. What do you do when you go out for a meal? My 2.5 year old does not like sitting still. He just wants to run when we are out. We brought his toy cars with us last time but he wanted to zoom them across the floor and crash them into things 😭 we really don’t want to have to go to devices but it was the only way to actually have him sit at the table and not scream the last time we went out. Any advice please!
