My teenager has a birthday party tonight & I honestly can’t afford to buy the girl a gift or give money in a card. I am struggling financially and don’t have the funds to send her with a gift or sacrifice $20 I don’t really have right now. I’m considering just giving a birthday card but is this rude/wrong?

If you don’t have it you don’t have it. I would just let her know so she doesn’t feel like you don’t care or forgot . When you can afford it do something nice for her

I don’t think it’s rude at all. But as a teen, I think I might have felt self conscious showing up without a gift. So maybe talk to your kid about how they feel. But as long as they are good, I don’t think it’s a big deal!
