I am 38 weeks + 2 days now and since my baby is on the 7th centile, the consultant recommended getting induced at 39 weeks. Any similar induction experiences? How are things for induction specially at Kingston Hospital?

I had to be induced at 37 weeks as baby's growth had completely stalled and was measuring the same from 35 weeks with no progress and only weighing 4lb 10. I was told I had to be induced straight away and couldn't go home. I had the balloon induction and then my waters broken. Once my waters had broke the baby's heart rate had dropped very low so I was very closely monitored and not allowed the oxytocin drip. My labour lasted 3hrs 30mins and very quick.
I was terrified throughout but now looking back im grateful I was closely monitored and had a smooth delivery. Baby was alive and safe earth side all because of the monitoring. She did have jaundice and was assisted by neo natal nurses for the first week but recovered well and gained weight very quickly when she was born and feeding properly.
I am all for informed decisions and making your own decisions but after my experience I really respect the doctors and glad I listened to them as I have a beautiful happy healthy baby.

I had to have an induction at 38 weeks due to reduced fetal movements and some converting readings on thr monitor. I initially declined but agreed to it when they explained the risks of not acting. I wasnt allowed to go home and had the balloon inserted. It fell out within 4 hours and then I had the pessary as nothing had started. The pessary also fell our in 4 hours but it had stated to work. From that to delivery it was about 4 hours. I only ended up doing 8 minutes of pushing before baby arrived.
It was a very positive experience for me and I got my healthy baby at the end!

Just out of curiosity what percentile was your first born on?

Are they showing you centiles on a personalised chart? Mine is shown to me adjusted to my height, weight and ethnicity
