Our toddler has days/times where he'll go non-verbal. Normally he talks a lot, can tell us what he wants, can talk in full sentences etc but there are times when he'll only point and get upset if you don't understand (I'm talking full meltdowns). Is this just a normal part of toddlerhood? (He is 2.5y/32m if that matters and he's already had the sleep regression).
We are seeing our health visitor next week, so I will bring it up then too. I just wondered about other people's experiences.

Selective mutism is a thing. Toddlers are still learning to regulate emotions he's just getting disregulated. You said he can speak. He's choosing not to tell him to use his words then you will try and get what he wants. X

I can’t advise much but I noticed my 2,5yo is using noises more than words when with her dad. I keep reminding her that she should talk or else no one can understand what she wants… maybe just a phase?
